CalCheck is a convenient and reusable LED device used to quickly and reliably verify the calibration of a Hygiena® luminometer. Simply insert CalCheck into a Hygiena luminometer and run a test in seconds. While the Hygiena luminometer runs a calibration self-check at startup, CalCheck provides validation and supports a robust quality control programme. CalCheck provides an all-in-one, reusable positive and negative calibration verification device, activated simply by the click of a button.

Why Verify the Meter at All
An ATP result is only as good as the instrument that read it. If your cleaning verification records are going to an auditor, a client or an insurer, the first question a sceptical reader asks is how you know the meter was reading correctly on the day. A dated CalCheck result in the same system as your swab results answers that question.
What CalCheck Does — and Does Not Do
- It verifies. CalCheck runs a negative (background) check and a positive check against a stable LED light source, and tells you whether the luminometer is reading within its expected range. Hygiena state the check takes under 60 seconds.
- It does not adjust the meter. If a check fails, the luminometer needs attention. Do not keep testing on it — contact CCW.
- It does not replace swab technique. Most variation in ATP programmes comes from how the swab is taken, not from the instrument.
On a meter connected to SureTrend Cloud, Hygiena state CalCheck results sync with your test data, so the calibration history sits alongside the results it supports.

Important: CalCheck is for Hygiena luminometers only. It is not listed for the CleanTrust Touch YZ3500, which has its own calibration check — ask us.
Replaces the PCD4000 Calibration Control Kit
CalCheck replaces the Hygiena PCD4000 Calibration Control Kit (listed by US distributors as one positive and one negative control rod). Where the old kit was a separate positive and negative device, CalCheck does both from one reusable unit.
How Often to Check
Hygiena recommend CalCheck as part of a regular quality control programme but do not set a fixed interval. Decide the frequency in your own procedure — for example at the start of each shift, each day or each week, and whenever a meter has been dropped — then do it the same way every time and keep the record.
Battery
CalCheck runs on a CR1025 lithium coin cell. Hygiena state the device shows a red LED when the battery needs replacing.

No. CalCheck is listed for Hygiena luminometers only.
Do I still need to send the meter away for calibration?
Hygiena say CalCheck removes the need for manufacturer calibration checks. It does not cover a meter that fails its check, has been damaged, or has a fault — those still need service.
How often should I use it?
Hygiena do not set an interval. Write one into your procedure and keep to it.
