Amber safety glasses for use with UV inspection lights in the 380–400 nm band. The amber polymer filters out the visible purple that a UV-A torch emits, which raises the contrast of anything fluorescing — and it protects your eyes while you work.
Why Amber Lenses Change What You Can See
A 395 nm torch sits close to the edge of visible light, so a large part of what it emits is visible purple. That purple washes across everything and competes with the faint yellow-green glow you are actually looking for.
Filtering the purple out removes the competition. Contamination that is marginal to the naked eye becomes obvious, which matters most on the jobs where you are trying to show a customer what is there.

Eye Protection Is the Other Half
UV-A exposure is cumulative. A torch used for a few minutes on a job is not the concern; a torch used on every job for years is. These are rated for the band the inspection torches emit in.

Operating Advice
- Darken the room. Amber lenses raise contrast; they do not replace turning the lights off and closing the curtains.
- Put a pair on the customer if you are showing them contamination. What convinces a customer is seeing it themselves.
- Do not shine a UV torch at anyone's eyes, glasses or not.
- Mark the areas as you find them. Fluorescence is invisible again the moment the lights go back on.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need them, or is the torch enough?
The torch will find contamination without them. The glasses make marginal contamination visible and protect your eyes over years of use.
Will they work with any UV torch?
They are made for the 380–400 nm band, which is where multi-LED inspection torches emit. For a 365 nm lamp, ask us first.
Can the customer wear a pair?
Yes, and it is worth carrying a second pair for exactly that.
