The pump-out group
A dehumidifier pump-out line is four parts that have to match: the hose, a male coupling, a female coupling and the O-ring that seals them. Mixing brands or generations here is the usual reason a line drips onto a customer's floor overnight.
- Pump-out hose: PVC, supplied without the female coupling
- Male coupling including O-ring
- Female coupling
- Replacement O-ring for the male coupler
Why this matters more than it looks
A pump-out line runs unattended, often overnight, in an occupied property, discharging into a sink or out a window. A joint that weeps produces a water damage claim on top of the water damage claim you were called in to fix. Check the couplings and the O-ring every time the line is made up.
Running a pump-out line
- Secure the discharge end so it cannot pull out of the sink or drain when the pump cycles.
- Avoid kinks and long uphill runs, which make the pump work harder.
- Drain the hose before rolling it up, so it does not leak in the van.
Frequently asked questions
Is the O-ring included?
The O-ring sits in the male coupling and comes with RBR-RFBZJSJ39-COMP. It is also sold on its own.
Is this included with the pump-out hose?
No. The hose is supplied without the female coupling.
