Stainless steel 1/4 inch quick connect, female half. It is the coupler that receives the male plug, and it is the half that carries the seal and the locking mechanism.

Quick connects are sold as halves, not as pairs. A working joint needs this coupler and a matching 1/4 inch male plug (NA010).

Stainless or Brass?

They interchange, so this is a durability decision rather than a compatibility one. Brass is softer and cheaper; the sealing face and the locking balls wear faster, and a worn quick connect either leaks or will not release. Stainless costs more and lasts, which matters most on the connections you make and break several times a day.

Why the Female Half Wears First

The seal and the locking balls live in this half, so it does the work and it fails first. A male plug is a solid piece of metal with very little to go wrong; a coupler has a sealing bore that scores, an O-ring that perishes, balls that wear their seats and a sleeve that stiffens. When a joint starts to weep, this is the half to suspect.

Where the Premium Range Differs

CCW also stocks the Hydro-Force premium couplings, Premium Quick Connect 1/4 Inch Female (NA0701) and Premium Quick Connect 1/4 Inch Male (NA0801). Those are specified with a double Viton O-ring seal and stainless nipples and rollers.

Hydro-Force does not publish the O-ring material for this coupling, so we cannot tell you how it compares on seal chemistry. Viton holds up to solvent-bearing chemistry that swells and softens nitrile, and the premium range states it where this one does not.

Check the Thread Standard

Quick connects are made in both NPT and BSP threads, and the two will start together and then refuse to seal. If you are mixing equipment from different sources, tell us what it is going onto and we will confirm the thread before you order.

Operating Advice

  • Depressurise the line before disconnecting. Breaking a live joint blows the seal and is how most O-rings are lost.
  • Pull the sleeve back squarely rather than at an angle. Angled release is what rounds the ball seats over time.
  • Keep the bore clean. Grit carried in on a dropped plug scores the sealing bore, and a scored bore leaks with every new O-ring you fit.
  • Replace a coupler that has become stiff to connect. Stiffness is wear, and wear ends in a joint that will not release under pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this come with the male half?

No. Quick connects are sold as halves. You need NA010 as well, or an existing male plug on the line.

Will it connect to my brass quick connects?

Yes, provided they are the same 1/4 inch size and the same thread standard.

The coupler leaks — is the O-ring the fix?

Try it first, since it is the cheap answer. If a new O-ring still weeps, the sealing bore is scored and the coupler needs replacing.

What is the difference between this and the premium female (NA0701)?

The premium coupling specifies a double Viton O-ring seal with stainless nipples and rollers. This one is not published to that detail. Both are 1/4 inch and both interchange.

Can I use it on a vacuum line?

No. This is a solution line fitting. Vacuum hose joins use cuffs and connectors — see Hose Cuff 2 Inch (AH44).

Is there a version that stays open when disconnected?
