The Tramex BSIZK Building Survey Inspection EZ Kit is a compact moisture and humidity kit for building inspectors and surveyors. It pairs the digital MEX5 with a hammer-action pin probe, so you get non-destructive scanning and pin moisture content readings from one meter.

What the kit does
The MEX5 tests moisture conditions non-invasively in plasterboard, wood, plaster, brick, ceramic tiles, resilient flooring, laminates and roofing. Its built-in hygrometer and infrared surface thermometer give ambient relative humidity, temperature, dew point and surface temperature – enough to identify condensation conditions conducive to mould growth. The hammer-action probe measures moisture content in wood and plasterboard, and gives WME readings in other materials.
Over Bluetooth, the Tramex Meters app turns readings into moisture maps, geotags results, and creates and shares reports, photos and charts.

Accessory connector
The MEX5 uses the bayonet connector, so any RH or pin probes added later must be the “B” suffix versions – see the AP-F2170-B accessory pack for in-situ RH testing.

Frequently asked questions
Does this kit do in-situ RH testing?
Not as supplied. The MEX5 accepts Hygro-i2 probes, but the kit contains the meter and a hammer-action wood probe only. Add the AP-F2170-B pack or a probe, RHIE2B cable and hole liners for ASTM F2170 work.
What does the hammer-action probe do?
It drives insulated pins into timber to read moisture content at depth rather than at the surface, which is what tells you whether a structural member is wet through or has simply taken up surface moisture.
Is a phone included?
No. The Tramex Meters app is a free download for iOS and Android and runs on your own device.
