Overview
Replacement manifold for the Sapphire Scientific Clear-View Upholstery Pro (AW59). Sapphire part number S13-01684, listed in the parts schedule as Manifold — Upholstery Tool, acetal, black.
Important — the manifold and the glide are different parts
This page has historically described the item as a glide/manifold. Sapphire's own documentation separates them, and getting the wrong one means the tool comes apart twice:
- S13-01684 — the acetal manifold. This part.
- S13-01705 — the glide and O-ring replacement kit, which is what Sapphire's user instructions name for replacing a worn or damaged glide. Not currently a stocked CCW line.
If your glide is worn, scratched or plugged, S13-01705 is the part you want. Ask us and we will source it.
Replacing the glide, per Sapphire's instructions
Sapphire's procedure is short: remove the four cover screws and lift off the cover; remove the four glide screws and discard the old glide and O-ring; fit the new O-ring into the sealing edge of the new glide; put the glide into the head making sure the O-ring stays in place; refit the glide screws, then the cover.
The O-ring is the part that matters. A glide fitted without its seal properly seated will not hold vacuum, and the tool will feel like it has lost suction for no visible reason.
Why glide condition affects cleaning, not just glide
On an upholstery tool the glide face is also the vacuum seal against the fabric. A scratched, distorted or plugged glide loses recovery, which shows up as fabric that stays wetter than it should — the exact fault an upholstery tool exists to avoid.
Sapphire's troubleshooting sequence starts here for that reason: check the glide before you look at the trigger valve.
Sapphire's own user instructions for the Upholstery Pro (document 07-01713B) are clear that this tool is designed to be serviced in the field with basic hand tools in a few minutes. That is worth taking them up on — an upholstery tool that has gone off is usually a five-minute job, not a new tool.
