Reduce late, not early
Airflow is limited by the narrowest part of the line. Running 2.5 inch hose for the long run and reducing to 2 inch close to the tool keeps the bulk of the run at the larger bore. Reducing at the machine gives you a 2 inch system regardless of what hose you bought.
Why the swivel matters
A fixed reducer transmits every twist in the hose to the tool, and the operator ends up managing the hose instead of the wand. On a long run the line will otherwise wind itself up over a room.
