Dry Air Switch 3 Speed Typhoon

Regular price $8.19

Overview

Three-speed rocker switch for the Dry Air Technology Typhoon centrifugal air mover. Part number GN-00E-P3B10222.

This switch controls the speeds only. On a machine where the speed switch and the power switch are separate, replacing this one does not address a machine that has no power at all.

Diagnosing a speed switch

The useful thing about a multi-speed switch is that it diagnoses itself:

  • Works on some speeds and not others — the switch. A motor does not fail on one speed and work on another.
  • Works on all speeds but only if held — worn contacts in the switch.
  • No response on any speed, but the machine has power — could be the switch, could be the motor or capacitor. Check for voltage at the switch output.
  • No power at all — lead, plug or the separate power switch, not this.

Running a centrifugal air mover at the right speed

Multiple speeds are not just a comfort feature. On a drying job the highest speed is not always the right one:

  • Full speed for maximum evaporation off hard surfaces and for the first phase of a drying job.
  • Lower speeds where the airflow would disturb loose material, lift a drop sheet, or where the machine is running overnight in a building with occupants and the noise matters.
  • Lower speeds also draw less current, which is worth knowing when you are running several machines off a domestic circuit — and tripping a customer's breaker at 2 a.m. undoes a night's drying.

A machine stuck on one speed because of a failed switch takes that judgement away from the technician.

Measure before you order

Rocker switches look near-identical across configurations. Check the body size and the number of terminals on the switch you are removing, and photograph the wiring before you disconnect anything.

Dry Air use different switches on different machines — RD-00E-P3A10286 is the two-speed switch for the Force 9, and GN-00E-P3B10218 is the plain on/off. They are not interchangeable.

Electrical safety

Isolate at the plug before you start. Anything that has been under water, or shows corrosion at the terminals, comes out of service until properly checked.

Frequently asked questions

Which machine is it for?

The Dry Air Technology Typhoon centrifugal air mover.

Does it switch the power as well?

No — speeds only.

My machine has no power at all. Is this the fix?

Unlikely. Check the lead, the plug and the power switch first.

Will it fit a Force 9?

No — that takes the two-speed switch RD-00E-P3A10286.

Send us a photo of the switch and its terminals and we will confirm the right one before you order.
