Overview

Drive coupler sleeve, part number 152-009, listed as the sleeve for the #7 drive coupler.

The sleeve is the sacrificial element in a jaw-type drive coupling. It sits between the two coupler halves and takes the torsional shock, so it wears while the metal halves and the shafts either side of it do not.

Machine fitment

Used on the CTS 400 Flex. That is confirmed from our own service records rather than from a published parts list.

We hold no manufacturer parts list showing this sleeve. We have read the parts sections of the HydraMaster RX-20 (MAN-47328 Rev. B), CDS 4.8, Boxxer 421, Boxxer 427, Maxx 450D/470D and Titan 575 manuals and it appears in none of them, so we are not going to claim fitment to any machine we cannot evidence.

If you are ordering for anything other than a CTS 400 Flex, contact us first. Send the machine model and the coupler size stamped on the halves and we will confirm before you buy.

Replacing a coupler sleeve

A worn sleeve announces itself before it fails. The usual signs are a knock on start-up and shut-down as the drive takes up, a rubber smell around the coupling, and black dust collecting under it.

Replace the sleeve at the first sign of any of those. A sleeve is cheap; running the coupling until the sleeve has gone lets the metal jaws contact each other, and from that point you are replacing coupler halves and possibly a shaft as well.

While the coupling is apart, check shaft alignment. A sleeve that has worn unevenly, or one that has needed replacing sooner than the last, is usually telling you the two shafts are out of line rather than that the sleeve was faulty.

Frequently asked questions

How often should it be replaced?

There is no fixed interval. Inspect it whenever the coupling is exposed for other work, and replace on condition rather than on hours.

Does the sleeve come with the coupler halves?

No. This listing is the sleeve alone.

My sleeve wore out quickly — is that normal?

No. Rapid or uneven wear generally points to shaft misalignment. Fitting another sleeve without correcting the alignment will produce the same result.

Will it fit my machine?

Ask us. We can confirm it for the CTS 400 Flex; beyond that we would rather check than guess.

Not sure this is the right sleeve? Send us the machine model and the size stamped on the coupler halves and we will confirm it before you order.
