Replacement integral contact pin and retainer for earlier Delmhorst meters and the 2-E electrode
A non-insulated steel pin in its retainer, giving 5/16 inch (7.9 mm) penetration.

Important — check your meter before ordering
If your meter is a BDX-20, BDX-30, JX-20, JX-30, PX-20, PX-30 or a current Navigator series meter, order the 2498/A-100 pin instead. The 2497 will read correctly on those meters but the pin cover will not close over it. Delmhorst states this in the BDX owner’s manual.

Longer alternatives for the same electrodes
The 2-E also accepts the 2497/A-103 at 11/16 inch (17.5 mm) penetration and the 2497/A-107 at 1 inch (25.4 mm), both intended for drywall and soft materials. We do not currently stock either — ask us if you need them.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the 2497 and the 2498?
Nothing electrically. Both are non-insulated steel pins in a retainer with 5/16 inch penetration. The 2498 is dimensioned so the pin cover on current meters closes over it.
Which pin came with my meter?
Meters before the current Navigator, BDX, JX and PX generations were supplied with the 2497. If you are not sure, send us the model and serial number.
Are these insulated?
No. The whole pin conducts, so the reading is an average across the full depth of penetration. For a reading at a specific depth you need insulated pins such as the 496.
