Product Overview

Water Claw Medium Deluxe sub-surface flood extraction tool, model AC016. A 10 x 17 inch (254 x 432 mm) head that pulls water out of carpet and pad together without lifting the carpet. It is the more manoeuvrable size for mid-sized rooms and tighter spaces where the large tool will not fit.

How Sub-Surface Extraction Works

The Water Claw sits flat on wet carpet and the operator stands on it. The vacuum from your extractor pulls water up through the pad and the carpet together, so the pad does not have to be lifted or removed.

Water Claw notes the tool is less productive on glue-down carpet with no pad, where there is little water held below the surface.

• Angled metal swivel vacuum elbow that takes 1-1/2 inch or 2 inch hose cuffs.

• Base in 15% glass-filled ABS; stainless steel, zinc-plated and powder-coated metal parts.

Match the Size to Your Extractor

Water Claw recommends the medium or large tool with a truckmount, and the small or medium with a portable. More airflow lets a larger head extract faster. With a portable, slow down and give each position more time.

Using It

• Connect the vacuum hose to the swivel elbow. A 2 inch cuff fits over the pipe; a 1-1/2 inch cuff fits inside it.
• Remove any standing water first, then start in a corner.
• Stand on the tool. Water Claw states most of the water comes out in the first 5–10 seconds; beyond about 30 seconds there is little further gain. Move when the flow in the clear top plate slows.
• Step back one tool width and repeat. A second pass with the tool turned 90 degrees can recover more.
• Test the pad by squeezing it. If water comes out, extract again.
• Finish the carpet face with a standard wand.

Maintenance

Rinse after use, wipe down and let dry. Check the vacuum ports in the base for debris. If debris is caught inside, the base can be separated from the top plate for cleaning — check the gasket while it is apart and replace it if damaged. The vacuum relief gasket is Water Claw Vacuum Relief Gasket, Orange, Medium/Large.
