An inline vacuum relief for 1.5 inch hose, supplied with a vac collar. It bleeds atmospheric air into the vacuum line to reduce the lift reaching the tool.
What a Vacuum Relief Does at the Tool
Too much lift is a real problem, not a luxury. A hard surface tool with excessive vacuum sticks to the floor and becomes hard to move; an upholstery tool can pull a delicate fabric into the slot.
Hydro-Force build the same idea into their hard surface tools. The SX-15 manual puts it plainly: close the relief vents to increase water recovery, open them to stop the tool sticking to the floor and make it easier to move. Their instruction is to try different settings for your machine and the floor you are on.
An inline relief does the same job for a tool that has no relief of its own.
Who Makes It, and What Is Still Unpublished
This is Production Metal Forming (PMF) part AC10H, the 1.5 inch vac release in the hose to hose configuration. PMF also make an AC10, which is the tool to hose version. They are not interchangeable: this one goes between two lengths of hose, not between a hose and a tool. If you are trying to bleed vacuum at the tool itself, the AC10 is the part you want.
What PMF do not publish is the relief setting. Their listing describes the part but gives no figure in inches of mercury or kPa, and does not say whether it is fixed or adjustable. We checked PMF's own accessories listing rather than relying on a distributor, so that is a confirmed absence rather than a failed search.

Not the Same as a Blower Relief Valve
Do not confuse this with the vacuum relief valve fitted to a truckmount to protect the blower from running deadheaded. That is a machine-mounted 2 inch valve and a different part at a very different price. This is a hose-line device for controlling lift at the tool.

Why would I want less vacuum?
Because too much lift makes a hard surface tool stick and can damage delicate upholstery. Recovery is a balance, not a maximum.
What does it relieve at?
PMF do not publish a figure. We checked their accessories listing directly — the part is described but not rated.
Is this the valve that protects my blower?
No. Blower protection is a machine-mounted 2 inch valve. This is a hose-line device.
Is this the same as the AC10?
No. AC10H is hose to hose; AC10 is tool to hose. Tell us where in the line you want it and we will send the right one.

More vacuum isn't always better at the tool.
