Product Overview
Actichem Oxyboost Plus is a super-concentrate oxidising compound designed for use both as an additive to cleaning solutions and as a stand-alone product. It provides powerful oxidising activity to cleaning solutions, with particular applications in fire restoration, stain removal and deodorising.
It derives its oxidising capability from potentiated sodium percarbonate, which provides maximum oxygen release even at ambient temperatures. The ready-to-use solution is alkaline. It therefore offers unique performance for both hard and soft surface cleaning applications where the oxidising ability of hydrogen peroxide is limited.
Benefits
- Stain removal — powerful on tannin and colour stains such as soft drink, cordial, grass, blood and many other organic stains.
- Cleaning booster — adding Oxyboost Plus to your cleaning solution significantly enhances results, as its oxidising and destaining power removes many soils that would otherwise be left behind.
- Brightens colours — enhances and brightens the colours of fabrics and carpets, and overcomes dullness and greying.
- Fibre safe — suitable on all synthetic and most delicate fibres and fabrics, including coloured fabrics.
- User friendly — low-odour formula.
Applications and Surface Suitability
Suitable on practically all water-cleanable surfaces, including painted walls, ceilings, carpets, soft furnishings, lacquered wood, metals, tiles, lino, natural stone and concrete. Care should be taken with pH-sensitive substrates such as natural fibres. A neutralising acid rinse after cleaning is recommended.
Note on the acid rinse. Do that as a separate, later step on a rinsed surface — never by adding acid to an Oxyboost solution. See the reactivity section below.
How to Use
Always pre-test in an inconspicuous location for substrate sensitivity. Best performance is obtained in hot solutions.
Dilutions
- Add 10 to 20 g Oxyboost Plus per litre of water or ready-to-use cleaning solution.
- For heavy-duty conditions, up to 30 g/L can be added.
- Oxyboost Plus must not be added to acidic solutions, deodorisers, chlorine or enzyme products.
- It can be added to fire restoration detergents, carpet and upholstery presprays, alkaline tile-cleaning detergents, and water-based degreasers.
- Warm or hot water and cleaning solutions will improve performance.
- Stir well and use the solution within 30 minutes. Once mixed, the oxygen is being released whether you use it or not.
Hard surface and carpet cleaning
- Cover areas not being cleaned. Only apply solution to an area that can be cleaned and rinsed within 30 to 40 minutes.
- Apply the solution to a workable area using a sprayer, sponge or scrubber machine.
- Agitate and allow 15 to 30 minutes dwell time.
- Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water. Carpets and soft furnishings are best rinsed using wet extraction equipment with a 1:100 Rinse Pro solution.
Spot removal from carpets and fine stone
- Add Oxyboost Plus to a warm or hot prespray or tile cleaning solution — non-acidic. Neutral pH product solutions generally work best. The solution can also be made up with water alone.
- Apply to the affected area.
- Agitate, allow 15 to 30 minutes dwell time, and re-agitate.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water, or wet-extract with a 1:100 Rinse Pro solution.
Tip: spot removal on marble and other porous hard surfaces can also be achieved by applying one scoop of Oxyboost Plus powder directly to the surface. Apply a little hot water, then use a non-scratch scourer to mix and scrub the spot until a paste forms. Allow 10 to 15 minutes dwell time. Scrub again and rinse with clean water.
Garments and loose furnishings
Ensure items are water-washable — check for special washing directions from the manufacturer first.
- Mix a soak solution of 200 to 500 ml Fire Fix per 10 litres of warm or hot water, or commercial laundry liquid or powder. Add 50 to 100 g Oxyboost Plus. Mix well.
- Soak affected garments and loose furnishings for 1 to 4 hours.
- Rinse well in clean warm water.
- Machine-washable garments should then be laundered as usual. Loose furnishings should be rinsed in a warm 1:200 Rinse Pro solution.
Safety
Our page has always carried “Safety profile: Class 5.1 Oxidising Agent”, which is correct. But a transport class tells you nothing about PPE, first aid, or the fire risk this product carries on a job site. The full classification is below.
Oxyboost Plus is classified as a HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL and DANGEROUS GOODS under the WHS Regulations and the ADG Code. It is a Poisons Schedule 6 substance.

It is a powder, and that changes how you handle it. H335 and H318 both apply to airborne dust. Decant slowly and low, do not tip from height, and do not scoop into a fan or air mover’s airflow. Wear the goggles when opening the pail — a puff of alkaline oxidiser dust in the eye is the realistic injury with this product.
Personal protective equipment
The SDS specifies chemical goggles and a full face shield, neoprene chemical protective gloves, overalls and a PVC apron, with access to an eyewash unit and a safety shower.
First aid
Eyes. Hold the eyelids apart and flush continuously with running water for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention without delay — H318 means the damage can be permanent.
Skin. Remove contaminated clothing and flush with running water. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.
Swallowed. H302 applies. Rinse the mouth, do not induce vomiting, and seek medical advice.
🔴 Fire Risk — the part most people do not know
Oxyboost Plus is an oxidiser. It does not burn, but it makes other things burn far more readily, and it can start a fire with no ignition source at all.
The SDS states that contact with combustible material — wood, paper, cloth, sawdust — may produce spontaneous combustion or violent decomposition.
On a job site that means:
- Do not sweep spilled powder into a bin with paper, cloth or sawdust. Collect it separately and flush the area with plenty of water.
- Do not store the pail on or near timber offcuts, rags, cardboard or absorbent granules.
- Do not leave cloths or towels loaded with concentrated powder or paste balled up in a bucket or van.
- Keep the lid closed and keep it dry. Moisture starts the oxygen release, and a sealed container of reacting percarbonate will pressurise.
This is the same hazard family as Actichem Perox, our 50% hydrogen peroxide, and it deserves the same respect.
Never Mix With Acid, Chlorine, Deodorisers or Enzymes
The four exclusions already on this page are correct, and the SDS explains why. Oxyboost Plus is incompatible with acids, reducing agents, alkalis, organic solvents, metallic salts and combustible organic matter.
- Acids — destroy the alkaline percarbonate chemistry and can generate heat and rapid gas evolution. Never add to Tile & Grout Restore, Grout Restore 20, Grout Restore 60, Crete Clean, Rust Remover or any acid rinse.
- Chlorine — never combine with Chlorosan, Mould Exterminator, pool chlorine or any hypochlorite. Two oxidisers together give you no extra performance and an unpredictable reaction.
- Enzyme products — the oxidiser destroys the enzyme. You lose both products.
- Deodorisers — oxidised fragrance chemistry gives unpredictable and often unpleasant results.
- Solvents and organic matter — combustion risk, as above.
Metallic salts are named as incompatible. The surface list above includes metals, and that is correct for the diluted working solution on a sound surface — but avoid contact between the neat powder and rusted or corroded metal, which catalyses rapid decomposition.
