Overview
Stainless steel in-tank vacuum filter for the HydraMaster CDS 4.7, with a 3 inch male BSP connection. CCW part reference 049-013.
The filter sits in the recovery tank between the tank and the blower inlet. Everything the wand picks up ends in that tank, and the airstream leaving it goes straight to the vacuum blower. Whatever gets past this filter goes into the blower, and a blower rebuild costs many times what the filter does.
Important — not interchangeable with the 2½ inch filter
CCW stocks two stainless in-tank filters and they do not substitute for one another:
| 049-013 (this filter) | 049-008 | |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | 3 inch male BSP | 2½ inch MPT |
| Machine | CDS 4.7 | Boxxer 421 |
The thread standards differ, not just the size. BSP and MPT will start to engage and then bind or leak, so a filter that appears close enough on the bench will not seal in the tank. Check the thread on the fitting you are removing before you order.

Maintenance
Inspect and clean it on a regular interval rather than when a problem appears. A partly blocked filter costs airflow gradually, so the first sign is usually longer drying times rather than an obvious loss of vacuum.
Replace it if the mesh is torn or distorted. A torn filter passes debris straight through to the blower, which is the one thing it exists to prevent.

Frequently asked questions
Will it fit a Boxxer 421?
No. The Boxxer 421 filter is 049-008, 2½ inch MPT. The thread standard is different as well as the size.
How often should I clean it?
On a set interval. Waiting for a symptom means running restricted for some time before you notice.
Can I run without it while one is on order?
Not advisable. It is the last thing between the recovery tank and the blower.
Does it replace the filter bag?
No. The bag is the first stage and this is the second. They work together.
