The Air-Care Max ULV Fogger produces a controlled cold mist from a low-slung, self-contained case. It is the machine for applying sanitisers, sealants and deodorisers into an HVAC system after cleaning.

Cleaning the interior of an air system is only part of the job. A thorough service treats the system afterwards, and that requires equipment capable of introducing the solution as a fine, even mist rather than a wet spray. That is what ULV — ultra low volume — means: small droplets, distributed, using very little liquid.

This is the 230 V / 50 Hz unit, Air-Care part FG0187. The 120 V machine is FG0186. It is supplied with an Australian plug, fitted and tested before dispatch.

Droplet size is the whole point

The adjustable nozzle covers 5 to 50 microns at 0 to 0.115 gallons per minute. Smaller droplets stay airborne longer and penetrate further into a duct run; larger droplets fall out sooner and wet surfaces closer to the nozzle.

Match the setting to the job and to the product label. A deodoriser intended to circulate through a system wants a fine setting; a sanitiser meant to wet a surface wants a coarser one. Always follow the chemical manufacturer’s instructions — the label governs, not the machine.

Why this one rather than a cheaper fogger

  • Non-drip valves. Two spring-loaded valves dispense only while depressed, with instant shut-off on release. Air-Care state it is the only fogger that will not leak when turned off without also closing the nozzle. Their own manual qualifies that claim: the tank can remain pressurised after shutdown, and if the nozzle is left open below the level of liquid in the tank, product can siphon out even with the motor off. Close the nozzle and vent the tank before storage.
  • It holds its settings. The nozzle head locks in place and the machine keeps its setting when switched off, so you are not recalibrating at every outlet.
  • Motor failure safeguard. Secondary check valves prevent backflow.
  • Viton seals — chemically resistant, which is what allows a wider range of products to be used through it.
  • Electrical isolation from the plastic handle, and a stable low base that will not tip.

On a working day

The practical arguments are about time. A 3.8 litre (one gallon) reservoir and a 120 cm hose mean fewer trips up and down ladders and less time refilling. The handle is positioned to stay balanced whether the tank is full or nearly empty, and the unit is lighter than most standard foggers.

There is a storage bracket for the nozzle head and another for the hose, so it packs down without loose parts in the van.

Safety and product selection

A fogger disperses whatever you put in it as a respirable aerosol. That places the responsibility on product choice and on following the label.

  • Use only products the manufacturer approves for fogging or ULV application. Not every sanitiser or deodoriser is intended to be aerosolised.
  • Follow the label for dilution, dwell time, ventilation and re-entry. Those instructions are the legal basis for the application, not a guideline.
  • Wear the respiratory protection the safety data sheet specifies for the product in use.
  • Clear and ventilate the space as the label directs before reoccupation.
  • Rinse the machine through after use, particularly between different chemicals.

Frequently asked questions

Where does fogging fit in a duct clean?

After the mechanical clean, not instead of it. Air-Care are clear that treating the system is the finishing step once debris has been removed by contact cleaning or negative air work. Fogging a dirty system achieves very little.

Can I use it outside HVAC work?

Yes — ULV foggers are used across restoration and odour work generally. The limit is the chemical, not the machine.

What is the difference between the FG0186 and FG0187?

Supply voltage. FG0186 is the 120 V machine for the US market; FG0187 is the 230 V unit supplied here.

From the workshop

Shut the nozzle fully before you switch the fogger off, then relieve the tank pressure before you put it away. Air-Care warn the tank can stay pressurised after shutdown, and if the nozzle is left open below the tank level it can siphon product out even with the motor off. That is a much easier mess to prevent than clean up.
