Actichem Deostor Organic 5 Ltr

Regular price $221.21

Deostor Organic is a concentrated enzyme-based odour control additive for decomposition work. You dilute it into your wash-down or knock-down solution, so it treats the surfaces and the wash water while you are cleaning up. This listing is the 5 litre drum.

It is matched to the source: Organic is the grade for rotting organic matter, human and animal waste, and decomposition odours. Use a Deostor Fire grade for smoke and soot.

Product description

Deostor Organic is powered by the innovative Elimotech chemistry for rapid neutralisation of stench caused by rotting organic matter. Elimotech reacts and neutralises mal-odours at a micro-molecular level, enabling quick and permanent elimination of trapped, embedded and air-borne odours.

Even a thorough disinfection and wash down of an area will not remove all odour molecules. Micro mal-odour molecules exist in the air, trapped in fabrics, carpets and porous materials. In addition to a cleaning routine, you need an Odour Control Strategy.

Deostor Organic is a deodoriser, not a disinfectant and not a biocide. On a job with biological contamination it works alongside your sanitiser or enzyme-bacteria product - it does not replace either.

Which Deostor do I need?

The Deostor grades are matched to what caused the odour, not to how strong it is. Picking the wrong one is the most common mistake with this range.

Odour source Grade Signal word
Decaying matter, human and animal waste, rotting food Deostor Organic (AP520) - this product Warning
Smoke and soot from timber, paper, protein and synthetic fires Deostor Fire - Citrus (AP521) Warning
Smoke and soot from plastic and synthetic fires Deostor Fire - Floral (AP522) Danger - carries H350
Severe persistent odours: tobacco, curry, cadaverine Deostor Extreme (AP523) - booster, always blended Danger - carries H350
Small areas, spot work, no fogging Deostor Spray (AP524) - ready to use Danger

Where the odour is severe, Organic and Extreme are designed to be used together rather than choosing between them - see the dosing below.

Where it is used

  • Category 3 water losses and sewage backflows, after extraction and physical removal.
  • Trauma, unattended death and hoarding cleans, as part of a wider decontamination process.
  • Animal waste and urine contamination in carpet, subfloor and hard surfaces.
  • Bin rooms, waste chutes, grease traps and commercial kitchens.
  • Decomposing food in fridges, freezers and cool rooms after a power failure.
  • Laundering contaminated soft furnishings and textiles.

Application

Supplied as a concentrate. Always dilute.

  • General use: 20-40 ml per litre of water (1:50 to 1:25). Use the stronger end for initial knock-down.
  • As an additive: 10-30 ml per litre of your ready-to-use cleaning or restoration solution.
  • Laundering: 5-10 ml per kilogram of washing.
  • Severe odours: 50 ml Deostor Organic plus 10 ml Deostor Extreme per litre of water.
  • Apply by pressure sprayer or cold/wet fog. Airless paint sprayers suit larger areas.
  • Physically remove the decaying material first. No deodoriser will out-run a source that is still there.
  • Treat biological contamination with a biocide and/or an enzyme-bacteria blend as well - Deostor Organic controls the odour, not the organism.
  • Pre-test in an inconspicuous location before general application.

Blends with: Clean Force, Biosan II and other wash-down detergents. Do not add it to oxidising or chlorine solutions without checking with an Actichem technician first.

Safety - please read before you order

We have corrected this page. It previously described this product as non-hazardous. That was wrong, and we would rather say so plainly than change it quietly. Actichem's current safety data sheet, issued 29 September 2025, classifies it as follows.

Signal word: WARNING

GHS classification: Eye Irritation Category 2A, Skin Sensitisation Category 1, Flammable Liquid Category 3.

  • H226 Flammable liquid and vapour
  • H319 Causes serious eye irritation
  • H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction

Flash point above 23 °C. HAZCHEM 3Y. The concentrate contains ethanol and isopropanol, which is why it is a flammable liquid - keep it away from heat and ignition sources and keep the container closed.

H317 means repeated skin contact can sensitise you, and once you are sensitised it does not wear off. Gloves and eye protection, good ventilation, no skin contact. On decomposition work the personal protective equipment the job itself demands will normally exceed what this product needs - but do not let that be a reason to skip it.

A note on transport. Actichem state the product is not regulated for transport of dangerous goods in pack sizes of 5 litres or less. That exemption is about how it may be shipped. It does not mean the product is non-hazardous, and it does not change how you store or handle it on site. We think that exemption is where the old wording on this page came from.

Deostor or Odourtak?

They do different jobs and most restoration work uses both.

Deostor is a concentrate you dilute into your wash-down or knock-down solution. It treats the surfaces you are cleaning and the water you are cleaning with, while the work is happening.

Odourtak is ready to use and is fogged into the space. It treats the air and the cavities the odour reached that you cannot wash.

Actichem's own instructions for Deostor end by telling you to fog the area once restoration is complete. Deostor during the clean, Odourtak to finish.

Frequently asked questions

Is Deostor Organic hazardous?

Yes, and this page used to say otherwise. Signal word Warning: flammable liquid Category 3, serious eye irritation, and skin sensitisation. It is the lowest-hazard grade in the Deostor range, but it is not non-hazardous. Read the safety data sheet above.

Will it fix a sewage or unattended death job on its own?

No. It is a deodoriser. The source has to be physically removed and the area decontaminated with the appropriate biocide or enzyme-bacteria product. Deostor Organic controls what is left once you have done that work properly.

How much do I use?

20-40 ml per litre of water for general use. 40 ml/L for the first knock-down pass, then drop back. 10-30 ml per litre if you are adding it to a cleaning solution that is already made up.

Can I mix it with my sanitiser?

It blends with Clean Force, Biosan II and normal wash-down detergents. Do not put it into an oxidising or chlorine-based solution without checking with an Actichem technician first.

Organic or Extreme for a really bad job?

Both. Extreme is a booster, not a substitute - it is always blended, never used neat. For a severe organic odour, 50 ml Deostor Organic plus 10 ml Deostor Extreme per litre of water. Note that Extreme carries a Danger signal word and H350, so read its safety data sheet before you introduce it.

Can I fog it?

Yes - cold or wet fogging suits it, as does a pressure sprayer, and an airless paint sprayer for larger areas. Do not confuse it with Deostor Spray, which Actichem state must not be fogged at all.

Technician's note

The failure mode we hear about most on decomposition jobs is dosing hard and often instead of removing the source. Enzyme deodorisers work on the odour molecules that are left behind, not on a saturated subfloor or a bin that has not been emptied. Get the material out, get the moisture out, then treat - and fog the space at the end rather than trying to do everything through the wash water.

Not sure whether you need the Organic grade, a Fire grade, or Extreme as a booster? Tell us what the odour source actually is and we will point you at the right one before you order.
