Important — the 4035235 family has several values
Phoenix use the same base part number with different suffixes for different capacitance values, and they are not interchangeable:
- 4035235-03 — 6 µF, 370 VAC — AirMax fan motor (this part)
- 4035235-01 — 4 µF, 370 V — 250MAX impeller
- 4035235-09 — R150 impeller
Read the value printed on the capacitor you are removing. The suffix is the specification, and ordering by base number alone will get you the wrong part.
Important — the US 115 V AirMAX uses a different capacitor
Phoenix's current AirMAX owner's manual (TS-890) covers the US 110–120 V, 60 Hz machine, and its service parts list gives 4035235-08, 20 mfd, 370 VAC as the run capacitor. That is not this part. This 6 µF capacitor is the value CCW's 50 Hz AirMax service parts list gives for the 230 V machine sold in Australia.
US parts sites also list 4035235-03 against other Therma-Stor machines. Do not order from a US parts list — match the value on the capacitor in your machine.

Symptoms of a failed fan capacitor
- Motor hums but the impeller does not turn
- Impeller starts only if you help it by hand — a classic dead-capacitor symptom, and a good reason to stop and unplug the machine rather than keep doing it
- Motor runs hot, or noticeably down on airflow
- Machine trips a breaker on start-up
A bulged, split or weeping capacitor is finished on sight. One that looks fine can still be well below value — test it rather than judging by appearance.
Safety
Capacitors hold a charge after the machine is unplugged. Discharge it safely before handling.
Photograph the terminal connections before you disconnect anything.
Replacing a capacitor is electrical work. Have it done by a licensed electrician or qualified technician, and have the machine electrically tested before it goes back into service.
