Is It the Pump?
Rule these out before replacing the assembly. The CJ-125 manual lists them as the common causes of pump complaints:
- Will not prime — a clogged check valve. Clean or replace the check valve first.
- Keeps running after the trigger is released — a leak on the high-pressure side (spray gun or pump fittings) or air in the system. Check for leaks and re-prime.
- Inconsistent pressure — air in the pump or poor priming. Remove the nozzle and prime the pump.
A pump that cycles on and off without the trigger being used is almost always a leak rather than a pump fault. It is also hard on the battery.
Getting the Best Life From It
- Never run it dry. Running a pump dry drains the battery and may damage the pump. Keep liquid in the tank.
- Do not leave the unit sitting in automatic shut-off with the power switch on for more than 10 minutes.
- Charge the battery after every use. A sealed lead-acid battery left discharged may be permanently damaged. Use only the supplied smart charger.
- Flush with clean water at the end of the day so chemical residue does not dry in the valves.

My pump runs but will not build pressure. Is the pump finished?
Not necessarily. Check the check valve and prime the pump first. Air in the pump and a blocked check valve both cause poor pressure and are cheaper to fix.
What else should I check while it is apart?
The one-way check valve. The CJ-125 manual names a clogged check valve as the cause of a pump that will not prime, and it is a much cheaper part than the pump.
