Rebuild Rather Than Replace
A plunger pump is a machined body with consumable seals, valves and O-rings inside it. Those consumables are what fail; the body outlives them many times over. A pump that has lost pressure or started pulsing is almost always telling you the valves or the seals are done, not that the pump is finished.
A rebuild kit and an hour on the bench is a fraction of the price of a pump, and it keeps the machine earning.
Valves or Plunger?
Weeping from the pump body, or pressure that falls away under load, points to the plunger seals — this kit. Pulsing pressure or a pump that will not build with no external leak points to the valves, which is the Pumptec Kit B Valves and O-Rings, 205V and 207V (10022).
Pumptec notes that valves typically need changing at every seal change, so on a pump that has done real hours, do both while it is apart.
What Kills Plunger Seals Early
Running the pump dry, even briefly. The seals rely on the pumped fluid for lubrication and cooling, and a few seconds without it does damage you will not see until the pressure drops a week later. Check the tank before you check the pump.
Pumptec rates the 205V and 207V to a maximum fluid temperature of 60°C (140°F) at the pump. On heated extractors the heater sits after the pump — do not feed hot water into the pump inlet.
Service Intervals
Pumptec recommends checking seals and valves at 500 hours, then every 500 hours until wear shows. Valves typically need changing at every seal change, and the pressure regulator should be serviced at the same time.
