The symptom
A failing pressure switch shows up as a pump that cycles rapidly with no demand, or one that will not shut off when pressure is reached. Both are hard on the pump and on the battery.
Check for a leak first — a genuine leak produces the same rapid cycling and is a cheaper fix.
