It suits Phoenix machines that take a detachable IEC cordset and are being run on Australian supply. The 3 ft IEC cord fitted as standard to some machines is 4028256; the short 3 metre IEC-C13 lead (4036630) is a separate CCW line.
Check the connector on your machine before you order. IEC connectors come in several forms and they are not interchangeable.
Why a 6 metre lead matters on site
Most restoration work puts machines a long way from the nearest usable outlet. The alternative to a decent lead on the machine is a domestic extension lead, and that is where problems start: voltage drop on a long thin lead makes compressors hard to start, and it is a real cause of the intermittent starting faults that get blamed on capacitors.
A proper machine cord also means one less connection lying in water on a wet floor.
Electrical safety
Damaged leads on hire and restoration equipment are a genuine hazard, not a maintenance nuisance. A cord with a nicked sheath, a cracked plug, or conductors visible at the strain relief comes out of service immediately.
Machines used in Australian workplaces are generally subject to periodic electrical testing and tagging obligations. Replacing a suspect lead is far cheaper than the alternative, and the equipment is being used on wet sites where the consequences of a fault are worse than usual.
