What it fits

  • Phoenix DryMax — named in the service parts list as Filter, and in the options and accessories list as Air Filter, Pleated 9" × 12" × 1" MERV-10
  • Phoenix Firebird

It sits on filter support 4036927 in the DryMax.

What MERV 10 means in practice

MERV is the efficiency rating of the filter media. A MERV 10 filter is doing real particulate work — it is well beyond a coarse dust screen and it will hold the fine material a drying job generates.

The trade-off is that an efficient filter loads faster than a coarse one, and a loaded filter costs airflow. On a refrigerant dehumidifier, lost airflow across the coil costs you water extraction directly. The machine keeps running and quietly takes longer to dry the structure.

That is why filter changes on a dehumidifier are not housekeeping. They are performance maintenance.

When to change it

Change it between jobs on anything dusty — fire and soot work, demolition, sanding, or any site with disturbed insulation. On clean water losses in occupied homes you will get considerably longer.

Do not judge a pleated filter by the face. Look at it against the light and look at the downstream side. A filter that has been through a soot job is finished regardless of what the front looks like.

Do not attempt to wash a pleated MERV filter. The media does not recover and washing damages it.

Why buying by the case makes sense

Filters get changed when there is a spare on the van and skipped when there is not. Buying twelve at a time is the practical difference between a fleet that runs on clean filters and one that does not.

Frequently asked questions

How many are in a case?

Twelve.

Can I wash and re-use it?

No. It is a disposable pleated media filter.

Will it fit an R150 or 250MAX?

No — those machines use different filters (4026315 on the R150, 4021475 on the 250MAX). Check your machine.

Can I run the machine without a filter?

No. You will load the evaporator coil with debris, and cleaning a coil costs far more than a case of filters.
