Overview

Power cord strain relief bushing for Phoenix equipment. Phoenix part number 4025269.

The strain relief is the fitting that clamps the power cord where it enters the machine. Its whole purpose is to make sure any pull on the cord is taken by the machine housing and never by the electrical terminations inside.

What it fits

CCW's record describes it as the power cord strain relief bushing for Phoenix equipment generally. We have not been able to locate this part number in the Phoenix parts lists we hold, so we cannot name specific models from a manufacturer document.

Send us a photo of the bushing you are replacing, with the cord in place, before you order and we will confirm. Strain relief bushings are sized to both the panel hole and the cord diameter, and the wrong one either will not fit the hole or will not grip the cord.

Why this small part matters

This is a part that gets left out because the machine appears to work without it. It should not be.

With no strain relief, every tug on the lead — dragging a machine across a floor, pulling it out of a room by the cord, someone catching a foot on it — goes straight into the terminations inside the housing. What follows is a conductor pulled out of a terminal, or worse, an active conductor pulled free while the earth is still connected. On equipment used on wet floors, that is a serious fault, and it is invisible until it matters.

It also seals the entry. On restoration equipment working in wet environments, an open cord entry is a route for water into the electrical compartment.

When to replace it

Replace it whenever the cord can be moved in and out of the housing by hand, whenever the bushing is cracked or has gone brittle, and always when you replace a power cord — a bushing that has clamped one cord for years will not grip a new one the same way.

If you find a machine in service with the bushing missing entirely, take it out of service until it is fitted. That is not an overreaction on wet-site equipment.

Frequently asked questions

Which machines does it fit?

CCW's record says Phoenix equipment generally. Send us a photo and we will confirm it against your machine.

What size is it?

Not stated in the documentation we hold. Measure the panel hole and the cord diameter, or send us a photo, and we will check.

Can I run the machine without one?

No. It is a safety component, not a trim part.

Should I replace it when I replace a cord?

Yes.

Send us a photo of the cord entry on your machine and we will identify the correct bushing before you order.
