Valterra 45 Degree Elbow 1-1/2" Female Slip ABS Fits PEA11 NM5079

Regular price $7.92

Product Overview

Valterra 45 degree DWV elbow, 1-1/2 inch female hub both ends. Used on portable extractor waste plumbing, and fits the PEA11 dump valve.

Compatible with Razorback Steamvac, Whytes Steamaster, Kanga, American Sniper and Mytee Pex portables.

Important — This Is ABS, Not PVC

This listing previously described the fitting as PVC. Valterra's own specification is ABS, listed to ASTM D2661, the ABS-DWV standard. Corrected.

It matters, because ABS and PVC take different solvent cements. PVC cement on an ABS joint does not make a sound weld. Use ABS cement, or a green transition cement if you are joining ABS to PVC.

A waste joint that fails on a portable does so with a full tank behind it, usually inside somebody's house. It is worth getting the right tin.

Fitting

Both ends are female hubs — the pipe slips inside and is solvent welded. Dry-fit first and mark your alignment; once the cement is on you have seconds, not minutes, and a 45 degree elbow welded at the wrong angle has to be cut out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it PVC or ABS?

ABS. Valterra lists it to ASTM D2661, which is the ABS-DWV standard. The earlier PVC description on this page was wrong.

Which cement do I use?

ABS cement. If you are joining it to PVC pipe, use a transition cement.

What is a hub?

A female socket that the pipe slips into, joined with solvent cement. Same thing as 'female slip'.

Which machines does it suit?

It fits the PEA11 dump valve and the portable waste plumbing on Razorback Steamvac, Whytes Steamaster, Kanga, American Sniper and Mytee Pex.

What We See in the Field

ABS waste fittings usually fail from installation stress instead of normal flow. Dry-fit the elbow so the pipework lines up without being pulled sideways, then use the correct ABS joining method for the system.
