Overview

Fan blade for the Dry Air Force 9 axial air mover, 17 inch. Part number AF-00M-P4A10274.

The same part is in your Razorback

Carpet Cleaners Warehouse's own Razorback MaxxAir AAM Pro uses this part number in its published parts list. If you run both a Dry Air Force 9 and a Razorback MaxxAir AAM Pro, this is one spare that covers both.

In the Razorback MaxxAir AAM Pro parts list it is item 4, 17" Fan Blade, quantity 1, running in five vane motor mounts (AF-00C-M1A10530) on a 2-speed 230 V 50/60 Hz motor.

When the blade is the problem

Razorback's troubleshooting table names the fan blade in three separate faults, which tells you how often it is the answer:

  • Loud scraping noise — the unit has been jolted hard enough for the blade to rub the housing. Replace the motor mounts, and the blade if it is damaged.
  • Excessive vibration — a damaged blade, a bent motor shaft, or dirt built up on one side of the blade. Clean it before you replace it; an unbalanced blade is very often just dirty.
  • Fan does not turn — jammed against the housing, sometimes because the housing itself is deformed.

Balance is the point

An axial blade turning at speed is a balanced assembly. Anything that upsets that balance — a chipped tip, a bend, or a wad of fibre stuck to one blade — puts a cyclic load into the motor bearings every revolution.

That is why vibration is worth acting on immediately rather than living with. The vibration itself is not the damage; the bearing wear it causes is, and by the time the bearings are audible you are replacing a motor rather than a blade.

Clean before you condemn. Wipe both faces of the blade, check for build-up between the blades, and re-run it. A great many "unbalanced" air movers are just dirty.

Fitting advice

Check the motor shaft for straightness while the blade is off — if a jolt bent the shaft, a new blade will vibrate exactly as the old one did.

Inspect the vane motor mounts. Razorback name damaged mounts as the cause of a blade rubbing the housing, and they are inexpensive next to a blade.

Make sure the blade is seated square and the grub screw or fixing is properly tight before you refit the grills.

Frequently asked questions

What size is it?

17 inch.

Which machines does it fit?

The Dry Air Force 9, and the Razorback MaxxAir AAM Pro from its parts list.

My machine vibrates. Do I need a new blade?

Clean it first and check the shaft. Both are free and both are common causes.

Do I need to balance it after fitting?

The blade is supplied as a balanced item. If a new blade still vibrates, the shaft or the mounts are the problem.

Tell us what the machine is doing and we will help you work out whether it is the blade, the mounts, or the motor before you order.
