Cyclo pad driver plate, set of two
The driver plates that carry foam or wool pads on a Cyclo dual-head polisher. Supplied as a pair, because the machine runs two heads and they should be matched.
How the assembly goes together
Foam or wool pads are attached permanently to rubber bonnets, and the bonnet or rubber pad holder fits directly over the Cyclo head assembly. The driver plate is what transmits the head’s motion into the pad.
Because the pads are permanently mounted, most operators keep several driver plates set up with different pads and swap the whole assembly rather than changing pads on one plate. It is faster and it keeps compounds from cross-contaminating.
Why a pair
A Cyclo runs two counter-rotating heads. Running one new plate against one worn plate gives you uneven pressure across the two heads, which shows on a polished finish as a difference between the halves of every pass.
Matching covers: microfibre suede pad covers.
