The classic symptom
An ignition coil that is breaking down under heat gives you an engine that starts cold, runs, and then cuts out once it is hot — and restarts twenty minutes later. That pattern is a coil far more often than it is fuel, and chasing it as a fuel fault costs days.
On a twin, one failing coil gives you an engine running on one cylinder under load, which reads as a loss of power rather than a misfire.
