Actichem Neutral Detergent is a near-neutral detergent cleaner for removing soil from pH-sensitive surfaces — fine stone, timber and polymer-coated flooring. It uses nanosurfactant technology to clean without leaving haziness, streaking or slippery residue.
⚠ Neutral Detergent or ProNeutro? Read this before you order
CCW carries two products in this category with very similar descriptions, and until now it has been almost impossible to tell them apart from their pages. They are not the same, and the difference matters.

Where the surface is genuinely pH-sensitive, or where the concentrate will be handled daily by general cleaning staff, ProNeutro is the better choice — it is closer to neutral and it is not a classified hazardous chemical. Neutral Detergent is a capable maintenance cleaner, but it is the higher-hazard of the two and it is not as close to neutral as its name suggests.
We are pointing this out rather than leaving you to work it out from two nearly identical pages, because that is what these pages used to do.
Benefits

- Low residue — no streaks, haziness or slippery residue. Residue build-up is itself a slip hazard on polished floors.
- Suits pH-sensitive substrates — fine natural stone, marble, polymer-coated flooring and timber.
A note on wording we have removed
This listing previously described a “totally non-toxic hazard rating” and said the product is “totally safe” on fine surfaces. We have changed both.
The product is a classified hazardous chemical — see the safety section. It is genuinely suitable for pH-sensitive surfaces, and that claim stands. But “totally safe” and “non-toxic” are not statements the safety data sheet supports, and we would rather be precise than enthusiastic.

Maintenance and medium-duty cleaning of granite, marble, limestone, engineered stone, acrylic polymer-coated flooring, timber flooring and other pH-sensitive surfaces.
How to Use
Read the safety data sheet before use. Always pre-test the cleaning solution on the surface to be cleaned.

Over-dosing is the most common mistake with a low-residue product, and it is counterproductive: excess surfactant is exactly what leaves the film and streaking the product is formulated to avoid. Use a dosing system or pre-marked measures rather than a free pour.
Application
- Apply with a clean cloth or mop, or through an autoscrubber.
- Rinsing is not generally required unless a strong dilution has been used.
- Keep the container closed for maximum performance.
Safety
This listing previously recorded “Safety profile: Non-hazardous” and a pH of 7. Both were wrong and have been corrected.
Actichem’s safety data sheet for RG667, version 1.1 issued 12 August 2021, classifies Neutral Detergent as a hazardous chemical with the signal word DANGER.

⚠ H318 — serious eye damage
The highest eye classification in the GHS system. Damage, not irritation.
Note the pH: 8.5 to 8.8, barely above neutral. This product is the clearest demonstration in our range that pH is not a proxy for hazard. A near-neutral product can carry the most serious eye classification, because surfactants damage the eye by a different mechanism than acids and alkalis do. A technician who judges risk by pH — or by the word “neutral” in the product name — will get this one wrong.
Chemical goggles when decanting or diluting the concentrate. Working solution at 1:50 to 1:150 is a very different proposition, but people are injured by concentrates, not by working solutions.
What it reacts with
Actichem’s sheet notes incompatibility with metal containers — store and decant into polyethylene or polypropylene only. Do not mix it with anything else.
First aid
Eyes. Wash out immediately with water, holding the eyelids apart. Seek medical attention.
Skin. Flush with running water.
Swallowed. Do not induce vomiting. Give water and seek medical advice.
