Flo-Thru or Valved?
A standard quick connect has an internal poppet that shuts off when you uncouple, so the hose does not empty. That poppet is a restriction, and every restriction upstream of a jet costs pressure.
A flo-thru coupling has no valve. The bore is clear, flow is unrestricted and pressure drop is minimal. The trade-off is that the line drains when you uncouple it.
Choose flo-thru where flow and pressure matter more than convenience — high pressure work, hot solution lines, and any tool already marginal at the jet. Choose valved where the drip is the bigger problem.
Stainless or Brass?
No manufacturer publishes a selection rule, so here is the trade one, stated as guidance rather than as a specification.
Brass is fine for carpet cleaning solution at normal truckmount pressure and temperature, and it is cheaper.
Stainless earns its price where acidic tile and grout chemistry, higher pressure or sustained high temperature is routine. Acids attack brass over time — the zinc leaches out and the fitting becomes porous and weak, which is not always obvious before it fails.
If you run acid rinses or spend most of your week on hard surfaces, stainless is the sensible spend.
Check Both Ends Before Ordering
Quick connect naming is genuinely inconsistent across this range, and it causes more wrong orders than anything else in the fittings catalogue. The word "male" or "female" can refer to either the coupling end or the pipe thread, depending on the part.
So do not order on the title alone. Every specification table below spells out both ends separately. If you are matching an existing fitting, tell us what it screws into and we will confirm before you order.
Thread Standard — Read This If You Are Mixing Brands
These are American-pattern fittings and the threads are NPT, not BSP. On the parts where the manufacturer states a form it is NPT or NPTF (Dryseal), which is dimensionally NPT with a modified crest and root so it seals metal to metal.
NPT and BSP are close enough to catch people out. NPT is a 60 degree thread form; BSP is 55 degrees. At 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch, NPT is 18 threads per inch and BSP is 19. An NPT male will wind several turns into a BSP female and feel tight — then leak under pressure, because only a thread flank or two is actually bearing.
That matters here more than it does on a garden tap. A leak on a solution line is hot water at pressure. If you are adapting to anything BSP, use a proper adaptor rather than forcing the two together.

On this part the quick connect end is male nipple and the pipe thread is 1/8 inch fpt (female). Naming in this range is inconsistent, so always read both.

What We See in the Field
Stainless quick connects are a good choice where corrosion has been killing brass fittings, but they still need clean mating faces and a healthy seal. If a new plug starts leaking quickly, inspect the female socket it's being pushed into — a worn socket or trapped grit can damage the new fitting from day one.
