Product Overview

Brass hex nipple, 1/4 inch male NPT on both ends. The standard way to join two female ports on a solution line.

Unlike the hose barbs in this range, this is a genuine pressure fitting — rated to 1200 PSI and 121 degrees C, which covers truckmount solution work comfortably.

Thread Standard — Read This If You Are Mixing Brands

These are American-pattern fittings and the threads are NPT, not BSP. On the parts where the manufacturer states a form it is NPT or NPTF (Dryseal), which is dimensionally NPT with a modified crest and root so it seals metal to metal.

NPT and BSP are close enough to catch people out. NPT is a 60 degree thread form; BSP is 55 degrees. At 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch, NPT is 18 threads per inch and BSP is 19. An NPT male will wind several turns into a BSP female and feel tight — then leak under pressure, because only a thread flank or two is actually bearing.

That matters here more than it does on a garden tap. A leak on a solution line is hot water at pressure. If you are adapting to anything BSP, use a proper adaptor rather than forcing the two together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this on a pressurised solution line?

Yes. At 1200 PSI and 121 degrees C it is rated for truckmount solution work, unlike the hose barbs in this range.

Is it lead free?

No. It is standard brass and is not certified lead free. Do not use it on potable water.

How tight should it go?

Thread tape or sealant on a tapered NPT thread, then hand tight plus one to two turns with a spanner. Over-tightening a tapered thread splits the female port, and brass is soft.
