Important — This Is a Low-Pressure Fitting
Hose barbs in this series are rated to 150 PSI and 71 degrees C. That is the manufacturer's published figure and it is the single most important thing on this page.
A truckmount solution line runs at 500 to 1200 PSI and close to boiling. That is up to eight times this fitting's rated pressure. A barb is held on by a hose clamp and a set of ribs; it is not a pressure joint.
Use barbs where they belong — waste and vacuum lines, tank plumbing, pump suction, chemical feed, low-pressure transfer. For pressurised solution lines use threaded fittings rated for the job, such as the Brass Nipple 1/4 Inch (BR072) at 1200 PSI, or the street elbows.
Thread Standard — Read This If You Are Mixing Brands
These are American-pattern fittings and the threads are NPT, not BSP. On the parts where the manufacturer states a form it is NPT or NPTF (Dryseal), which is dimensionally NPT with a modified crest and root so it seals metal to metal.
NPT and BSP are close enough to catch people out. NPT is a 60 degree thread form; BSP is 55 degrees. At 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch, NPT is 18 threads per inch and BSP is 19. An NPT male will wind several turns into a BSP female and feel tight — then leak under pressure, because only a thread flank or two is actually bearing.
That matters here more than it does on a garden tap. A leak on a solution line is hot water at pressure. If you are adapting to anything BSP, use a proper adaptor rather than forcing the two together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this on my solution line?
Not on a pressurised one. These barbs are rated to 150 PSI; a truckmount solution line runs far above that. Use a threaded fitting rated for the pressure.
Where should I use it then?
Waste and vacuum lines, tank plumbing, pump suction, chemical feed — anywhere the pressure is low and the joint is clamped rather than threaded.
Do I need a hose clamp?
Yes. A barb without a clamp is not a joint. Match the clamp to the hose outside diameter, not the barb size.
Is the thread NPT or BSP?
