Tramex HA21SP52 – hammer-action pin electrode (DIN)
A slide-hammer electrode with insulated pins, for driving to depth in timber and structural substrates. Insulated pins read only at the tip, so the reading comes from the depth you drove to rather than from the wetter surface layers on the way in.

Important – check your connector
This is the DIN version. It will not connect to a CMEX5 or MEX5 – those need the HA21SP52B bayonet version. The part numbers differ by a single trailing B.

Spare pins
Pins are consumable – they bend, blunt and lose their insulation coating. Replacements: SP52 35 mm pins, 10 pack.
Frequently asked questions
Why insulated pins?
An uninsulated pin reads the wettest point anywhere along its length, which on a drying timber member is usually the surface. Insulated pins read at the tip only, so you can measure a moisture gradient through the material instead of one misleading number.
When should pins be replaced?
When a pin is bent, blunt, or the insulation is worn or chipped. Worn insulation means the pin is reading along its length again, and the readings drift without any obvious sign that something is wrong.
