New style or old style?

Orbot changed the latch design, and the fasteners changed with it. This screw is for the new style latch. If you are retro-fitting the newer latch to an older machine, the latch retro kit of two is the part to look at.

Identifying the right part

Fasteners and small components change between production runs, and the part on your machine may not match the current drawing. Measure what you are replacing, or photograph it against a ruler, and send that with your model and serial number. It takes a minute and it saves an order that does not fit.

Before You Fit It

• Unplug the machine before working on the latch.
• Confirm the machine has the new-style latch. The original latch uses different fasteners, so this screw may not suit an older machine.
• Clean the thread it screws into, start the screw by hand so it does not cross-thread, then tighten it firmly without over-tightening.
• Check the latch opens, closes and holds before the machine goes back to work.

Will this screw fit the old-style latch?

It is listed for the new-style latch only. Do not assume it fits an older machine. If you are converting an older machine to the newer latch, look at the latch retro kit of two, or send us a photograph of the latch you have.

What tool does it take?

A socket screw takes a hex (Allen) key. Orbot does not publish the key size, so use the key that fits the original screw snugly — a loose key rounds the head out.
