Replacement Probe Pins for the Hydro Shark Moisture Sensor.
These are the contact pins for the Hydro Shark Moisture Sensor (OE-HS-EA), the wet/dry indicator probe CCW sells for moisture mapping and locating urine in carpet and underlay. The pins are the only part of the sensor that touches the material, so their condition decides whether the sensor tells you the truth.
Pins are consumables
They blunt, they bend and they corrode. A pin that no longer makes clean contact reads low, telling you a substrate is drier than it is — which is the error that ends a drying job early and brings you back to a mould complaint.
When to Replace Them
- A pin is bent, shortened or no longer sits parallel to the other.
- The tips are rounded off and no longer push into the carpet backing or underlay cleanly.
- There is corrosion or residue on the pins that does not clean off. Urine salts and cleaning chemicals are both corrosive.
- The sensor stays silent on material you know is wet.
Check the battery before you condemn the pins. Then test the sensor on something you know is wet, such as a damp towel, and on something you know is dry. If it signals on the wet test and stays quiet on the dry one, the pins and sensor are working.
Fitting
The manufacturer does not publish a fitting procedure for the pins, and CCW has not confirmed the thread or retention method. Before ordering, look at how the old pins are held in the head of your sensor. If you are unsure, send us a photo of the probe end and we will confirm before you order.
- Replace both pins at the same time so they wear evenly and make equal contact.
- Clean the pin sockets before fitting new pins.
- Do the wet/dry test above before taking the sensor back to a job.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to replace both pins?
Yes. A new pin beside a worn one gives uneven contact. Replace them as a set.
How do I know the pins are the problem?
Fit a fresh battery, then test on known wet and known dry material. If the sensor signals poorly on material that is clearly wet, and the pins are blunt, bent or corroded, replace them.
Will these fit a Dri-Eaz HydroSensor?
Not confirmed. The Dri-Eaz HydroSensor I and HydroSensor II use their own point set. Ask us before fitting Hydro Shark pins to any other instrument.
Are they the same as moisture meter pins?
No. Pin-type moisture meters such as the Delmhorst BDX-20 use their own pins, such as the Delmhorst 2498/A-100. They are not interchangeable with Hydro Shark pins.
How long do they last?
It depends on how often the sensor is used, what it is pushed into, and whether the pins are wiped clean after urine and chemical work. Check them before each job rather than waiting for a failure.
