Overview
Replacement pad spindle for the Dry Air Technology Universal Carpet Clamp — metric thread. Part number AC-00M-N8NN0184.
Adjustable soft rubber boot that grips the carpet securely without risking damage to it.
Important — metric or imperial
This spindle is supplied in two thread forms, and they are not interchangeable:
- Metric thread — this part
- Imperial thread
Check the thread on your clamp before ordering. Metric and imperial threads of similar pitch will start together and then bind, which damages both the spindle and the clamp body. If you are not certain, take the old spindle off and send us a photo with the thread visible.
Why the spindle is a wear item
The spindle and its rubber boot are the parts doing the actual gripping, and they are the parts that wear. A boot that has hardened, split or worn smooth will let go — and it will let go overnight, on a job nobody is watching.
Check the boot when you pack the clamps away rather than when you set them. Hardened rubber, splits at the edge, or a boot that has lost its shape all mean replace.
Protecting the carpet
The boot is also what stands between a metal clamp and a customer's carpet for eight hours. Set it to the carpet — a heavy commercial loop and a domestic cut pile want different settings — and check the clamped edge when you move the machine. If the pile is crushing, ease it off.

Frequently asked questions
How do I tell which thread I have?
Take the old spindle off and compare, or send us a photo with the thread visible. Do not order on assumption — an imperial spindle will start on a metric thread and then bind.
Does it include the rubber boot?
The spindle is described with its adjustable soft rubber boot. Ask us to confirm the pack contents before ordering if you need the boot specifically.
How often should it be replaced?
On condition — hardened, split or worn-smooth rubber. Machines used on gritty commercial work go through them faster.
How many should I carry?
At least one spare per set of clamps. A clamp that will not grip is a clamp you cannot use, and discovering that on site costs a night's drying.
Send us a photo of your existing spindle with the thread visible and we will confirm which one you need.
