Delmhorst CS-3 Concrete Sleeve 75mm (each)

Regular price $8.32

Concrete sleeve for in-situ relative humidity testing

The plastic sleeve that lines the drilled hole in a concrete slab for an in-situ relative humidity test to ASTM F-2170. Supplied 3 inches (75 mm) long and easily cut to the depth the slab requires.

Fitment

Important — a correction to our earlier listing

We previously described this sleeve as suitable for use with any of the RH/T-S1, S2 or S3 sensors. That is wrong, and we would rather say so plainly. Delmhorst specifies the sleeve for use with the RH/T-S3. The RH/T-S1 is an ambient sensor for reading room conditions and is not an in-situ probe. A test set up with the S1 is not an ASTM F-2170 test and the result will not stand up if the floor is later disputed.

How the sleeve is used

The hole is drilled to the depth the standard specifies for the slab, cleaned out, and the sleeve inserted and capped. The sleeve isolates the measurement from the air above the slab so the sensor reads the humidity of the concrete at that depth rather than the room. The hole is then left to equilibrate before any reading is taken — this is the step most often skipped, and skipping it is what produces a reading that later turns out to be wrong.

Frequently asked questions

How many do I need?

One per test location. ASTM F-2170 sets the minimum number of locations by floor area — check the current edition for the slab you are testing.

Do I get the sleeve back?

No. The sleeve stays in the slab; the sensor is reusable.

Can I cut them shorter?

Yes, that is what they are designed for. Cut to the depth the standard requires for your slab thickness.
