Product Overview
The Actichem System 7 is a hard floor cleaning system built around a pad with a profiled, multi-material structure that pulls soil out of the pore rather than polishing across the top of it. This is the Disc Pad 203 mm (8").
It exists to solve a specific and very common problem. Mineral hard floors go grey and unsightly over years, not from surface dirt but from soil and detergent residue built up deep in the surface texture. That build-up survives strong chemicals and it survives abrasive floor pads, because neither reaches into the pore. A conventional pad polishes the top of the soil; System 7 lifts it out.
The pads are used with Actichem's hard floor chemistry — principally Tile & Grout Cleaner LF for general floor work, and Fire Fix or Fire Restore for fire and smoke restoration.
Where It Is Used
General hard floor cleaning
Retail centres, industrial workshops, banks, offices, hospitals, airports — anywhere with heavy foot traffic and mineral hard flooring. The dirt shows worst in high-traffic paths and around entries, and it is the kind of greying that clients assume is permanent.
The larger the area, the stronger the case for System 7. The economics come from covering ground quickly with a pad that keeps working rather than clogging.
Fire and smoke restoration
This is where the pads earn their reputation, and it is a significant advance on traditional dry chemical sponges.
- They rinse out and are reused, again and again. A soot sponge loads up, gets trimmed back and is eventually thrown away. A System 7 pad is rinsed and returned to work.
- Paired with Fire Restore or Fire Fix they form a genuinely effective soot and smoke residue removal system.
- Many restoration contractors report eliminating the need to repaint some walls entirely using the System 7 pad and Fire Restore combination — which changes the economics of a fire job substantially.
Why It Works
- Profiled multi-material structure. The combination of materials and the profile of the pad face are what produce the dirt-pulling effect. It is not an abrasive that grinds the surface; it is a structure that grips soil and carries it away.
- Large soil capacity. The pad holds what it lifts instead of pushing it around, which is why the floor comes up clean rather than uniformly grey.
- Deep-pore action. It reaches into the surface texture that conventional pads skim over.
- Tear resistant on structured tile. Textured and structured tiles destroy ordinary pads. This material stays intact on them.

Choosing the Right Size
The disc pads fit standard rotary and single-disc floor machines. Match the pad to the machine's stated pad size, not to the machine's overall footprint.

Most operators need two. A disc pad matched to the machine for the floor area, and hand pads for the edges, corners and anything vertical. On fire restoration work the hand pad does the majority of the job, because most soot damage is on walls and ceilings rather than floors.
How to Use
- Fit the disc pad to the machine's driver, or take the hand pad in hand for wall and detail work.
- Apply the appropriate chemical — Tile & Grout Cleaner LF for general floor soil, Fire Fix or Fire Restore for smoke and soot residue.
- Work the surface. Let the pad structure do the work rather than forcing it; the dirt-pulling effect comes from the profile, not from pressure.
- Rinse the pad out when it loads up and return it to work. A loaded pad stops lifting and starts smearing — rinsing is what keeps it cutting.
- Extract or mop up the released soil rather than letting it dry back onto the floor.
- Rinse the pads thoroughly at the end of the job and allow them to dry before storage.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Working with a loaded pad. The single most common error. Once the pad is full it redistributes soil instead of lifting it, and the operator concludes the system does not work. Rinse it.
- Using more pressure instead of rinsing. Pressure does not restore a loaded pad.
- Leaving released soil to dry on the floor. Lift it before it re-deposits.
- Storing pads wet and dirty. Rinse and dry them; they are a reusable asset, not a consumable.
- Ordering the wrong disc size. Check the machine's pad size — 400 mm and 425 mm look similar on a shelf and only one will fit.
- Buying only disc pads for a fire job. Most of that work is vertical. You need hand pads.

System 7 pads are cleaning accessories, not chemicals. No safety data sheet applies to the pad itself — but the chemicals used with it do carry classifications, and those are on the product pages linked below.

How is this different from an ordinary floor pad?
An ordinary pad is an abrasive that works on the surface — it cuts the top and polishes what is left. How many times can I reuse a pad?
Actichem states up to 10,000 m² per set. Actual life depends on the surface — structured and textured tile is harder on any pad — and on whether the pads are rinsed properly and dried before storage. Treat them as equipment rather than consumables and they will earn their cost several times over.
Do they really replace soot sponges on a fire job?
They do the same job and then keep going. A dry chemical sponge loads with soot, gets trimmed back, and is eventually discarded. A System 7 pad is rinsed and returned to work. Restoration contractors using the pads with Fire Restore report eliminating repainting on some walls, which is a far larger saving than the pads themselves.
Which chemical should I use with them?
Tile & Grout Cleaner LF for general hard floor cleaning. Fire Fix or Fire Restore for smoke and soot residue. Read the classification on each of those product pages before use — Fire Restore in particular is a corrosive product and its dangerous goods exemption does not make it safe to handle casually.
Will they damage the floor?
They are designed to lift soil rather than abrade the surface, so they are gentler on a finish than an aggressive abrasive pad. Pre-test on polished and sensitive surfaces as you would with any pad and any chemistry.
Can I use them on textured or structured tile?
Yes — this is one of their strengths. Structured tile shreds ordinary pads. The System 7 material stays tear resistant on it, and the profiled face reaches into the texture where the soil actually is.
Which size fits my machine?
Match the pad to the machine's stated pad size. 400 mm is 16 inch and 425 mm is 17 inch, and they are not interchangeable. If you are unsure, tell us the machine model and we will confirm before you order.
