Product Overview
Spotaway U is a specially formulated spot treatment designed for the efficient removal of urine stains and associated odours. This advanced solution includes stabilised hydrogen peroxide, making it effective in removing urine crystals and stains. Spotaway U can be used to tackle tough stains that other treatments have been unable to remove, and is especially effective for older and stubborn urine stains that require hydrogen peroxide neutralisation.
Spotaway U is a great alternative to PowerClean Oxyspot.
This listing is the 20 litre bulk pack, for high-volume urine and pet decontamination work. Read the storage section below before buying this size — peroxide has a practical working life, and 20 litres is a commitment.
Benefits
- Stain removal — Spotaway U employs the power of hydrogen peroxide to neutralise the toughest urine and pet stains. It will also remove many colour stains, such as wine and cordial.
- Odour control — the hydrogen peroxide oxidises the bacteria and organic residues that cause urine odour.
- Non-residual — leaves absolutely no residues behind and does not need to be rinsed.
- Colour safe — safe for use on colourfast fabrics and carpets.
- Fibre safe — safe for use on natural and synthetic fibres; however, fine fabrics must be pre-tested for fibre and colour stability before use.
Application Areas and Surface Suitability
Carpet and fabric stain removal.
⚠ Storage — Important for This Pack Size
Spotaway U is sensitive to heat and light. Store it out of direct sunlight, indoors, and never in a vehicle. Decant into a 500 ml trigger bottle for van use and replace that van bottle at least once per month.
This is not a shelf-life technicality. Hydrogen peroxide decomposes with heat and light, and product that has warmed repeatedly will have lost strength. If Spotaway U has stopped working on stains it used to shift, the product is the likely cause, not the stain. Peroxide decomposition also generates oxygen and pressure inside a closed container — keep the drum upright, vented as supplied, and do not seal decanted product into unvented containers.
Buy this size only if you will use it within a reasonable period. For occasional urine work the 5 litre or 500 ml is the better value, because a drum that loses strength before it is used is not a saving.
How to Use
Read and understand the safety data sheet before use.
Dilution: ready to use.
- Remove by steam extraction as much of the urine spill as possible, doing extra dry vacuum strokes.
- Apply Spotaway U undiluted onto the affected area.
- Agitate the solution using a carpet rake or upholstery cleaning brush.
- Some stains will respond within 5 to 10 minutes, whilst others may require 2 – 4 hours. Some stubborn urine stains may require repeat treatment.
- No rinse needed. Apply it and leave it — Spotaway U will do the rest.
A Note on Germ and Sanitising Claims
Earlier versions of this page said Spotaway U delivers “powerful oxidation of bacteria and odour-causing germs”. We have reworded that, because germ-kill is a regulated claim and Actichem do not publish an ARTG or APVMA number for this product.
What we can say honestly: hydrogen peroxide is a genuine oxidising biocide, and Spotaway U will reduce the bacterial load in a urine-contaminated area and oxidise the organic residues that cause the smell. What it is not is a listed disinfectant, and it should not be relied on where a scope of works, an insurer or an infection-control policy calls for one. If your job requires a listed product, use Thymox (AUST L 400439), Percide (AUST L 332284) or Biosan II (AUST L 332364).
Safety
Please read this section. This listing previously described Spotaway U as “Non-hazardous”. That was wrong. It has been corrected.
Actichem’s safety data sheet for AP493, version 2.3 issued 23 September 2025, classifies Spotaway U as a HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL under the Model WHS Regulations. It is not classified as dangerous goods for transport.
- Signal word: WARNING
- H315 — causes skin irritation
- H319 — causes serious eye irritation
- pH as supplied: 3.5 – 4.5 per the current SDS
- HAZCHEM code: 2P
- Poisons Schedule: 6
Decanting is where people are hurt with a drum this size. Wear goggles and gloves when transferring product into spray bottles, and do it over a surface you can rinse.
Spotaway U is the milder of our two low-strength peroxide spotters. Conquer O2 carries the more serious H318 — serious eye damage at a similar peroxide strength.
Do not mix
Actichem list reducing agents, acids, alkalis and combustible organic matter as materials to keep away from this product in storage. Store the drum away from your solvent stock — GumGone, Orange Solvent and any flammable liquid — and away from the alkaline spotters Bust and Protein Spotter.
Never let spilled product soak into rags, towels or carpet offcuts and then bundle them up. Peroxide-soaked organic material can self-heat. Never return unused product to the drum — contamination accelerates decomposition of the whole container.
Personal protective equipment
Actichem specify neoprene chemical protective gloves, safety glasses with side shields or chemical goggles, overalls and a PVC apron, with an eyewash unit available.
First aid
Eyes. Wash out immediately with fresh running water for 15 minutes, holding the eyelids open. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Skin. Remove contaminated clothing and wash with soap and water.
Swallowed. Rinse the mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Call a Poisons Information Centre or doctor.

If your risk assessment for this product was written on the basis that it was non-hazardous, it needs to be redone.
Dealing with heavy or repeat urine contamination, or subfloor odour that keeps returning? Contact Carpet Cleaners Warehouse — surface spotting alone will not solve a saturated underlay, and we would rather advise you properly than sell you a drum you do not need.
