Product Overview

Actichem Upholstery Plus is a professional upholstery prespray detergent formulated specifically for the effective cleaning of all synthetic upholstery fabrics. It delivers outstanding grease-cutting performance and stain-removal ability for reliable and fast cleaning results.

This product is a great replacement for PowerClean Fabriclenz.

Benefits

Application Areas and Surface Suitability

Upholstery cleaning — synthetic fabrics.

How to Use

Always pre-test in an inconspicuous location for fibre and dye sensitivity. Use Encap Fine Fabric when cleaning fabrics constructed with cotton, silk and other delicate fabrics.

Dilution: mix 250 ml Upholstery Plus with 4 litres of clean water (1:16).

1. Vacuum the fabric to remove all loose soil.
2. Spray the solution onto the fabric until it is wetted out. One litre of ready-to-use solution should cover approximately a four-seater lounge suite, or 4 m².
3. Agitate the solution using a bonnet mitt or an upholstery cleaning brush.
4. Rinse extract using Actichem Rinse Pro.
5. Brush to re-align fibres.
6. Allow to dry. Assist drying by increasing ventilation.

Tip: pre-spray severely soiled areas such as chair arms with Actichem VDS for even faster results.

Safety

Please read this section. This listing previously described Upholstery Plus as “Non-hazardous”. That was wrong. It has been corrected.

Actichem’s safety data sheet for AP468, version 2.2 issued 5 September 2025, classifies it as a HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL under the Model WHS Regulations. It is not classified as dangerous goods for transport.

⚠ H317 — the one that matters most on this product

H317 means this product may cause an allergic skin reaction, and the sensitiser is d-limonene — the same ingredient responsible for the citrus fragrance.

Sensitisation is not like ordinary irritation. Once you are sensitised, you stay sensitised, and thereafter even brief contact can trigger a reaction. It is a permanent change, not a temporary one.

This matters more here than on almost anything else in the range, because upholstery cleaning is hand work. You are closer to the fabric, for longer, more often than with carpet work — agitating with a bonnet mitt or brush, working chair arms and backs at close range. Wear hand protection every time rather than only for the messy jobs, and if a rash develops, stop using the product and seek medical advice.

⚠ H318 — serious eye damage

H318 means causes serious eye damage — irreversible, not irritation. Upholstery work is often done at head height on lounge backs, and spray rebounds off vertical surfaces straight back towards you. Safety glasses with open sides are not adequate — use chemical goggles.

Concentrate versus working solution

Upholstery Plus is a concentrate, and the classification above describes the product in the container — not the tank mix at 1:16.

The diluted working solution is considerably milder. But the concentrate is what you decant, and decanting is when people are hurt.

Do not mix

Unlike most of this range, Actichem do list proper incompatibilities for this product, driven by its d-limonene content: strong oxidisers, strong acids, peroxides, halogens, vinyl chloride and iodine pentafluoride.

In practical terms, keep it away from Stain Fix, Conquer O2 and the chlorine range, and away from the acid restorers.

Personal protective equipment

Chemical goggles, hand protection, and overalls where the product is sprayed for extended periods. An eyewash unit should be available wherever this product is decanted.

First aid

Eyes. Wash out immediately with fresh running water for at least 15 minutes, holding the eyelids open to ensure complete irrigation. Immediately call a Poisons Information Centre or doctor — H318 damage is not something to assess yourself.

Skin. Remove contaminated clothing and wash the area with soap and water. If a rash develops, stop using the product — see the sensitisation note above — and seek medical advice.

Swallowed. Rinse the mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Call a Poisons Information Centre or doctor.
