Why run 2 inch hose to a 1.5 inch wand at all
Airflow restriction is dominated by the smallest section and by total length. Running the long part of the line in 2 inch and only stepping down at the wand keeps most of the run at the larger diameter, which is where the airflow is won or lost. On a long run from a truckmount that difference is felt at the wand.
Stepping down at the tool is a compromise, not a fault. Stepping down at the machine and running 1.5 inch the whole way is the mistake.
Joining like to like
To join two lengths of 1.5 inch hose, use the 1.5 inch to 1.5 inch connector.
