Actichem Odourtak SV - Floral 5 Ltr

Regular price $349.69

Odourtak SV Floral is a ready-to-use solvent-based thermal fogging solution for fire and smoke odour. It is fogged into a space after cleaning, so the micro-droplets follow the same path the smoke took - into cavities, behind skirtings, through porous linings - and neutralise the odour molecules left behind. This listing is the 5 litre drum.

SV is the aggressive half of the Odourtak range and is intended for spaces nobody is living in yet. If the building is occupied, use the water-based Odourtak W instead.

Product description

Oil based enzyme odour control for thermal fogging. Odourtak SV Floral is a solvent-based formulation powered by Elimotech chemistry for rapid neutralisation of odours caused by smoke and soot. Elimotech reacts with and neutralises mal-odours at a micro-molecular level, enabling quick and permanent elimination of trapped, embedded and air-borne odours.

Even a thorough disinfection and wash down of an area will not remove all odour molecules. Micro smoke odour particles exist in the air, trapped in fabrics, carpets and porous materials. In addition to a cleaning routine, you need an Odour Control Strategy.

The Floral fragrance is best suited to smoke and soot odours from plastic and synthetic material fires. It is intended for non-inhabited spaces such as attics, sub-floors and stripped-out buildings.

SV or W - which one for this job?

This is the decision that matters most, and it is about the building, not the smell.

Odourtak SV Odourtak W
Base Solvent Water, pH 7.5
Equipment Thermal (hot) fogger See the fogging note below - Actichem's own material is inconsistent
Intended space Non-inhabited - attics, sub-floors, stripped-out buildings Inhabited - rooms, offices, halls
Hazard signal word Danger Warning

Both are ready to use, both are applied at the same rate, and both use the same Elimotech chemistry. The difference that matters is the building: SV is for spaces nobody is living in yet, W is for spaces still in use.

Which fogger does Odourtak SV go through?

Thermal (hot) fogging. SV is a solvent-based product formulated for the heated fogging process, and Actichem are consistent on this. If your machine is a cold or ULV fogger, read the fogging note on the Odourtak W listings before you order - Actichem describe W as cold and wet fogging optimised in one place, and as a thermal fogging solution in another, so confirm against your specific machine rather than assuming.

Citrus or Floral?

Actichem match the fragrance to the fuel that burned:

  • Citrus - smoke odours from protein, paper and timber fires.
  • Floral (this product) - smoke odours from plastic and synthetic fires.

On a mixed-fuel fire, most operators pick the fragrance that matches the dominant source and treat the remainder on the second pass.

Application

Thermal fogging only. Do not dilute and do not mix with other chemicals - it is supplied at working strength.

  • Rate: 0.5-1.5 ml per m³ of air or room space.
  • Worked example: a room 4 m x 5 m with a 2.4 m ceiling is 48 m³, so 24-72 ml for that room. This 5 litre pack covers roughly 3,300 to 10,000 m³ depending on the rate you run.
  • Dwell: keep the space closed for a minimum of 30 minutes.
  • Ventilation: ventilate for 1 hour before extended occupation.
  • Pre-test in an inconspicuous location before treating the whole area.
  • Cover or remove food and moisture-sensitive items before fogging.

Safety

Odourtak SV carries the signal word Danger. Actichem specify protective clothing and respiratory protection: a Type A Class 1 or 2 gas filter to AS/NZS 1715/1716 (brown cartridge), or a CF22 A2 combined filter which also covers particles and micro-organisms.

Important: Carpet Cleaners Warehouse does not currently stock an AS/NZS 1716 approved Type A gas filter. The 3M 60921 Organic Vapour/P100 cartridge we stock is NIOSH-approved, which is the United States scheme and not the same certification. If your site or safety management system requires AS/NZS 1716 filters for fogging work, source them separately, and ring us if you want help identifying an equivalent. We would rather say this plainly than have someone fog a job in the wrong cartridge.

Note on pH: our records show pH 7.5 for this product, which matches the published figure for the water-based Odourtak W. Actichem's current data for the solvent-based SV lists the pH as "solvent" rather than a number. We have left both positions visible rather than quietly changing one, and have asked Actichem to confirm. It does not affect how the product is used.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this in an occupied house?

No. SV is specified for non-inhabited spaces. For a house the owners are still living in, or an office that reopens the next day, use Odourtak W.

Do I dilute it?

No. It is supplied ready to use, and Actichem specifically say not to dilute it or mix it with other chemicals. The control you have is the dose per cubic metre, not the strength.

How much do I need for a job?

Work out the room volume in cubic metres and multiply by 0.5 to 1.5 ml. Light odour sits at the bottom of that range, heavy fire damage at the top. Measure the volume rather than guessing from floor area - a warehouse and a bedroom with the same footprint are very different jobs.

Will it work if I have not cleaned first?

Not properly. Fogging is the last step in an odour control strategy, not a substitute for one. Soot and residue left on surfaces keep generating odour, and no fogging product will out-run that.

Can I run it through my cold fogger?

No. SV is a thermal fogging product. If your machine is a cold or ULV fogger, read the fogging note on the Odourtak W listings before you order - Actichem describe W as cold and wet fogging optimised in one place and as a thermal fogging solution in another, and you should confirm against your specific machine.

Does the fragrance mask the odour?

No. The Elimotech chemistry neutralises odour molecules rather than covering them. The fragrance is there to match the odour type being treated, which is why Citrus and Floral are matched to different fire fuels.

What we see in the field

[Technician's Note - replace before publishing: two to four sentences of first-hand CCW field experience relevant to this product. A pattern you see, a mistake customers make, or something learned from servicing or selling it. Not spec repetition, not a sales pitch, not invented.]

Not sure whether this job calls for SV or W, which fogger to run it through, or how much you need for the volume you are treating? Ring Carpet Cleaners Warehouse before you order. Fogging the wrong product into an occupied building is an expensive mistake and it is entirely avoidable.
