Actichem Polyprop Plus 20 ltr

Regular price $346.56

Product Overview

Actichem PolyProp Plus takes the headache out of cleaning olefin (polypropylene) carpets. This innovative double-strength formulation delivers its performance through smart soil-release chemistry rather than harsh, highly alkaline cleaning agents. It also provides excellent cleaning action on fire restoration work and filtration soiling.

This listing is the 20 litre bulk pack, for high-volume commercial olefin work and fire restoration.

Benefits

  • Olefin (polypropylene) fibres — advanced cleaning chemistry releases oily and tracked-in soils from difficult-to-clean olefin fibres.
  • An unbeatable team — team it with Rinse Pro when rinsing. Rinse Pro encapsulates any remaining soils and guards against the wicking and greying so typical of newly cleaned olefin carpeting.
  • Enhances — overcomes the dulling and greying problems typical of olefin carpets.
  • Pleasant — low odour formula. Low odour is not the same as low hazard — see the Safety section below, which has been corrected.
  • Fire restoration — ideal for filtration soiling, air-conditioning diffuser cleaning and fire restoration.
  • Economical — concentrated formula offering a 1:64 dilution ratio.

Application Areas and Surface Suitability

Use to clean olefin (polypropylene) carpets.

How to Use

Always pre-test in an inconspicuous location for fibre and dye sensitivity. Do not use on stain-resistant carpets unless in a restoration situation.

Dilutions

Pump-up sprayer — add 15–30 ml per litre of water (1:64 – 1:32) depending on soil conditions.

Hydroforce high-pressure model

  • 1:9 tip (yellow) — add 750 ml to 1.4 L into a 5 L Hydroforce container and fill with water.
  • 1:32 tip (brown) — dilute 1:1 with water, or add directly into a 5 L Hydroforce container.

Application

  1. Always prepare the carpet for cleaning by thoroughly vacuuming.
  2. Pre-spray the PolyProp Plus solution onto the carpet. Do not allow to dry.
  3. Agitate and allow 5–10 minutes dwell time.
  4. Extract rinse using Rinse Pro.
  5. Assist drying with air movers or similar if the atmosphere is humid.

Decant into a labelled container for site use. An unlabelled bottle in a work vehicle is a WHS problem regardless of what is in it.

Safety

Please read this section. This listing previously described PolyProp Plus as “Non-hazardous”. That was wrong. It has been corrected.

Actichem’s safety data sheet for AP986, version 2.2 issued 7 January 2026, classifies it as a HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL under the Model WHS Regulations. It is not classified as dangerous goods for transport.

  • Signal word: DANGER
  • H315 — causes skin irritation
  • H318 — causes serious eye damage
  • pH as supplied: 11 per the current SDS (our earlier records stated 10 – 11)
  • Poisons Schedule: not applicable

⚠ pH 11 — worth reading alongside the product description

The description above says PolyProp Plus works through smart soil-release chemistry rather than harsh, highly alkaline cleaning agents. That is a fair description of how the formulation achieves its result, and it is genuinely gentler on olefin than a caustic degreaser.

It is still pH 11 in the container, and the most alkaline liquid in our Actichem prespray range. Both statements are true, and we would rather you had both than only the flattering one.

⚠ H318 — this is the one that matters day to day

H318 means causes serious eye damage — irreversible, not irritation.

Eye protection when decanting, mixing and spraying. A pump-up sprayer or hydroforce worked at floor level throws mist upward, towards your face. Safety glasses with open sides are not adequate for a product classified H318 — use chemical goggles.

Concentrate versus working solution

PolyProp Plus is a double-strength concentrate, and the classification above describes the product in the container — not the tank mix at 1:32 to 1:64.

The diluted working solution is considerably milder. But the concentrate is what you decant, and decanting is when people are hurt. With a 20 litre drum that means pouring from height into a hydroforce container — goggles on, and do it over a surface you can rinse.

Do not mix

Actichem’s safety data sheet for this product lists incompatible materials as “none known”. We do not think that is right for a product at pH 11, and we have raised it with them.

Keep it away from the acid range — Brownaway, Rust Remover, Crete Clean and the tile and grout restorers — and from the oxidisers, including Stain Fix and the chlorine range. Rinse equipment thoroughly between an alkaline step and an acid step.

Personal protective equipment

Chemical goggles, and overalls where the product is sprayed for extended periods. An eyewash unit should be available wherever this product is decanted.

First aid

Eyes. Wash out immediately with fresh running water for at least 15 minutes, holding the eyelids open to ensure complete irrigation. Immediately call a Poisons Information Centre or doctor — H318 damage is not something to assess yourself.

Skin. Remove contaminated clothing and wash the area with soap and water. Seek medical advice if irritation persists.

Swallowed. Rinse the mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Call a Poisons Information Centre or doctor.
