Actichem Bust is a radical strength protein and blood removal formulation, which also produces outstanding results on cleaning tough soiling from nylon carpeting. It combines powerful protein-dissolving chemistry with super-wetting and penetrating technology to burst through protein soils and release them from fibres and hard surfaces.
This listing is the 500 ml trigger spray. It contains the same concentrate as the 5 litre pack, not a ready-to-use dilution — a smaller bottle is not a milder product. It is used undiluted for spot work and can be diluted 1:9 as a prespray.

Application Areas and Surface Suitability
Actichem Bust is a heavy-duty protein and blood stain remover. It is ideal for tough stains and spills in homes, healthcare facilities, nursing homes, schools, and more. It is effective on vomit, blood, urine, coffee, and other protein-based stains, including betadine and iodine.
Bust can be used on carpets, water-cleanable upholstery and clothing. It can also be used as a prespray for heavily soiled carpets and traffic lanes.
How to Use
Always pre-test in an inconspicuous location for substrate sensitivity to chemicals and dye stability.
Dilutions: stain removal — ready to use. Prespray application — 1:9.
Spot and stain removal
- Scrape or blot up all loose surface soil.
- Apply Actichem Bust undiluted to the stain area.
- Apply this solution onto the fibre or fabric until it is wetted out.
- Agitate the solution using a carpet rake or upholstery cleaning brush.
- Allow 10 – 20 minutes reaction time.
- Rinse extract using Actichem Rinse Pro.
- Allow to dry. Assist drying by increasing ventilation.
Prespray application
- Dilute Actichem Bust 1:9 with clean water.
- Apply the prespray solution onto the carpet area to be cleaned.
- Agitate and allow 5 to 10 minutes dwell time.
- Rinse extract with Actichem Rinse Pro.
- Allow to dry. Assist drying by increasing ventilation.
Safety
Please read this section before your next job, even if you have used Bust for years. This listing previously described it as “Non-hazardous”. That was wrong. It has been corrected.
Actichem’s safety data sheet for AP496, version 2.4 issued 24 September 2025, classifies Bust as a HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL under the Model WHS Regulations and as DANGEROUS GOODS under the ADG Code. It is not regulated for transport in packs of 5 litres or less, which is why it ships normally — but that is a freight rule, not a safety rating.

H314 is a corrosivity classification, not an irritation one. Undiluted Bust on unprotected skin causes burns, and a splash in the eye is a medical emergency. A trigger bottle makes this easier to get on your hands and forearms than a 5 litre pack does — wear the gloves.
⚠ Never mix Bust with chlorine products
Bust is ammonia-based. It contains ammonia solution and monoethanolamine, which is why it has the mild ammonia odour described above. Ammonia and hypochlorite react to form chloramine gas, which causes severe respiratory injury and can be fatal in a confined space such as a bathroom, sub-floor or plant room.
Never use Bust on the same surface, in the same bucket, or through the same equipment as any of these:
- Actichem Chlorosan
- Actichem Mould Exterminator
- Actichem Hypo Enforcer, and any pool chlorine mixed with it
- Any other hypochlorite, bleach or chlorinated sanitiser
A trigger bottle in a spotting kit is exactly how this happens — the bottle travels to a bathroom that has just been treated with a chlorine product. If a chlorine step and a protein step are both required on the same job, rinse thoroughly with clean water between them, ventilate, and use separate clearly labelled equipment.
Bust is also strongly alkaline. Do not mix it with any acid product — our acid range includes Rust Remover, Crete Clean, the tile and grout restorers, Brownaway and Toilet Bowl Cleaner.
Personal protective equipment
Actichem specify butyl chemical protective gloves — note that nitrile is not the recommended material for this product — together with chemical goggles or safety glasses with side shields, overalls, a PVC apron and barrier cream. Given H314, goggles are not optional when decanting or refilling this bottle.
First aid
Eyes. Wash out immediately with fresh running water for 10 to 15 minutes, holding the eyelids open to ensure complete irrigation. Immediately call a Poisons Information Centre or doctor.
Skin. Immediately remove all contaminated clothing including footwear. Flush skin and hair with running water and soap. Seek medical attention.
Inhalation. Move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, seek medical attention — particularly if chlorine or chloramine exposure is suspected, where symptoms can worsen for several hours after exposure.
