Why the splashguard matters on stairs
Stair work is done at close quarters, often against a wall, a balustrade and a painted riser. Overspray on a stair job lands on paintwork the customer looks at every day. The splashguard head is what keeps it on the carpet.
The double bend is about the operator
Stairs are worked from an awkward position with the tool below and in front of you. A double-bend tube puts the head at a usable angle without the operator twisting their wrist for a whole flight — which is where stair work does its damage over a career.
Method
Work top down so you are not walking on cleaned treads, and do the risers as well. A staircase with clean treads and dirty risers looks worse than one that was never touched.
