Filter 2.5" S/S Recovery Tank Hydramaster Boxxer 421

Regular price $508.56

Overview

Stainless steel in-tank vacuum filter, 2½ inch MPT × 10 inch long, fitted in the recovery tank between the tank and the blower inlet. HydraMaster part number 000-049-008.

This is the last line of defence for the blower. Everything the wand picks up ends in the recovery tank, and the airstream leaving that tank goes straight to the vacuum blower. Debris that gets past this filter goes into the blower, and blowers do not tolerate solids.

What it fits

  • HydraMaster Boxxer 421 — listed in the machine's spare parts list (078-340) as Filter, S/S Vacuum Pump, 2½"
  • HydraMaster Boxxer 427 — same spare parts list entry
  • HydraMaster CTS450 — listed as filter, 2½" recovery in HydraMaster's suggested spares schedule

Do not confuse it with 049-007, the 2 inch NPT stainless vacuum filter listed for the SpitFire, or with 049-013, the 3 inch stainless filter listed for the MAXX.

Specifications

  • Thread: 2½ inch MPT

Maintenance

Clean it, do not just look at it. A stainless mesh filter can appear open while the perforations are glazed with grease, fibre and detergent residue — the airflow drops long before the filter looks blocked.

Symptoms of a blocked in-tank filter read like a vacuum leak: lift falls away at the wand, the vacuum gauge climbs while performance drops, and the machine sounds like it is working harder. Check this filter before you start looking for hose splits.

Pull it at the same interval as the filter bags and wash it through. Replace it when the mesh is torn, distorted, or too far gone to come clean — a split filter is worse than no filter, because it passes debris while looking fitted.

Frequently asked questions

Can I run the machine without it?

You can. You should not. It is protecting a blower that costs many times what the filter does.

Does it replace the filter bags?

No. The bags catch bulk debris in the tank; this filter catches what the bags miss on the way to the blower. Both do a job.

How often should it be replaced?

HydraMaster treats it as a clean-and-inspect item rather than a fixed-interval replacement. Replace on condition.

Will it fit a CDS or a SpitFire?

Not according to the parts lists we hold — those machines are documented with different filters. Ask us with your machine model before ordering.
