Overview
Replacement stainless screen for the ¼ inch NPT brass "Y" strainer used throughout HydraMaster truckmounts. HydraMaster part number 000-049-016.
The Y strainer sits in the high-pressure solution line and catches grit before it reaches the orifice, the pressure regulator and the jets. The screen is the consumable; the brass body is not.
What it fits
The screen suits CCW's ¼ inch In-Line Y Filter (049-033) and the equivalent PA065 brass strainer.
The Y strainer itself appears in the high-PSI manifold or by-pass assembly of every current HydraMaster truckmount we hold documentation for:
- Boxxer 421 — 2 fitted (Hi-PSI manifold assembly, item 5)
- Boxxer 427 — 1 fitted (Hi-PSI valve assembly, item 4)
- Boxxer 423S — 2 fitted (Hi-PSI manifold assembly, item 4)
- Boxxer 318 — 2 fitted
- Boxxer 323HP — 2 fitted
- Titan 425 — 2 fitted
- MAXX 450D / 470D — 2 fitted (Hi-PSI manifold assembly, item 7)
- SpitFire 3.2 and 4.0 — listed in the spare parts kit
- Crossfire 4.2 — listed in the spare parts kit
Why it matters more than it looks
The set-screw orifice downstream of this strainer is a very small hole. One piece of grit through it and you have unstable pressure, uneven flow to the jets, or a jet that will not clear. Replacing a screen is a five-minute job. Chasing a partly blocked orifice is not.
A collapsed or split screen is the worst case, because it keeps passing solution while no longer filtering anything. Hold it up to the light: if the mesh is distorted, torn or flattened against the body, replace it.
Maintenance
Check it at every service, and always after any work that opens the solution line. Machines fed from tanks, rainwater or site taps foul the screen much faster than those on clean mains water.
Back-flush or brush it clean rather than poking at it — pushing debris through the mesh puts it where you did not want it.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the whole filter or just the screen?
Just the screen. The brass body is a separate part.
How many does my machine take?
One or two depending on the model — see the list above. Where two are fitted, replace both.
Can I clean it instead of replacing it?
Yes, until the mesh distorts or tears. It is cheap enough that most workshops keep a spare and replace rather than fight with it.
Does it fit non-HydraMaster Y strainers?
It is specified for the ¼ inch HydraMaster / PA065 strainer. Other manufacturers' strainers use their own screens. Ask us if you are unsure.
Tell us your machine model and we will confirm how many your Hi-PSI assembly takes.
