Why duckbill rather than ordinary shears
The duckbill blade lies flat on the carpet, so the cut is made level with the pile rather than at an angle. That gives you a sprout trimmed flush and invisible, instead of a divot where you cut too deep or a stub where you did not cut deep enough.
