Three jobs
Setting carpet into tack strip, driving carpet into the gully between strip and wall, and creasing carpet along a wall before trimming. On a cleaning job the stair tool is what you reach for when carpet has come away from the strip at a doorway or on a stair nosing.
Do not use a screwdriver
The blunt, wide blade is what lets it set the backing without cutting it. A screwdriver cuts the primary backing, and a cut backing is a repair rather than an adjustment.
