1/4" Male Angle x 3/8" Universal Female Fitting (052-014) 4MA-6UFS

Regular price $11.73

Overview

Brass fitting, ¼ inch male angle × 3/8 inch universal female swivel. HydraMaster part number 000-052-014, coded 4MA-6UFS in HydraMaster's fitting reference.

The universal female swivel end seats on a cone rather than on tapered thread, so the joint can be made and broken repeatedly without tape or sealant and without the fitting winding itself tight in the wrong orientation. The angled male end lets a hose leave a fitting at 90 degrees instead of fighting a bend.

Reading the HydraMaster fitting code

HydraMaster's fitting codes are consistent once you know them, and knowing them saves ordering the wrong part:

  • 4 = ¼ inch, 6 = 3/8 inch, 8 = ½ inch (sixteenths of an inch)
  • M = male, MA = male angle, UFS = universal female swivel

So 4MA-6UFS reads as ¼ inch male angle to 3/8 inch universal female swivel.

The rest of the angle family

HydraMaster list these male-angle fittings alongside it. They are easy to confuse and none of them will make up correctly on the wrong thread:

  • 2MA-2UFS — 052-002
  • 2MA-4UFS — 052-004
  • 4MA-4UFS — 052-006
  • 4MA-6UFS — 052-014 (this part)
  • 6MA-4UFS — 052-017
  • 6MA-6UFS — 052-020

Check both ends before ordering. The difference between 4MA-6UFS and 6MA-4UFS is which end is which, and they are not interchangeable.

Fitting advice

Do not put thread tape on the universal swivel end. It seals on the cone, and tape on that face is a leak, not a seal. The male NPT end does take sealant.

Nip the swivel firm, not hard. You are seating two machined faces, not stretching a thread.

Frequently asked questions

What pressure will it take?

HydraMaster does not publish a pressure rating for the individual fitting in the documentation we hold, and we will not quote one we cannot verify. It is specified as part of truckmount solution plumbing. Ask us if you need a rated figure for a particular application.

Is it brass or stainless?

Brass, consistent with the rest of the HydraMaster standard fitting range.

Does it need an O-ring?

The universal swivel seals metal to metal on the cone. If yours is weeping after being nipped up, inspect the cone face for damage rather than looking for a seal.

Will it suit non-HydraMaster equipment?

The threads are standard NPT sizes, so it often will. Confirm both ends against what you are joining before you order.
