Deostor Fire - Floral is a concentrated enzyme-based odour control additive for fire and smoke work. You dilute it into your knock-down spray or your wash-down solution, so it treats the surfaces and the wash water while you are remediating. This listing is the 1 litre bottle. If you are running fire jobs regularly the 5 litre drum works out cheaper per litre.
It is matched to the fuel that burned: the Floral grade is for smoke and soot odours from plastic and synthetic fires.
Product description
Deostor Fire is available in Citrus or Floral base - it is powered by the innovative Elimotech chemistry for rapid neutralisation of odours caused by smoke and soot. Elimotech reacts and neutralises mal-odours at a micro-molecular level, enabling quick and permanent elimination of trapped, embedded and air-borne odours.
Even a thorough disinfection and wash down of an area will not remove all odour molecules. Micro smoke odour particles exist in the air, trapped in fabrics, carpets and porous materials. In addition to a cleaning routine, you need an Odour Control Strategy.
Citrus or Floral? Check the hazard data, not just the fragrance
These are sold as a fragrance choice, but they are not equivalent products from a safety point of view and it is worth knowing before you choose.

Both are classified from Actichem's own safety data sheets, issued September 2025. If the fire was mixed-fuel and either grade would work, that difference is worth weighing.
Application
Supplied as a concentrate. Always dilute.
- General use: 20-40 ml per litre of water (1:50 to 1:25), depending on how heavy the odour is.
- Initial knock-down on job entry: 40 ml per litre (1:25).
- As an additive: 10-30 ml per litre of ready-to-use restoration solution.
- Laundering: 5-10 ml per kg of washing.
- Severe odour: 50 ml Deostor Fire plus 10 ml Deostor Extreme per litre of water.
- Physically remove charred material first. No additive out-runs a source left in place.
- Apply by pressure sprayer or cold/wet fog. Airless paint sprayers suit larger areas.
- Pre-test in an inconspicuous location for substrate sensitivity before treating the whole area.
Additive compatibility. Actichem list Deostor Fire as suitable to add to Fire Restore, Fire Fix, most laundry detergents, and carpet and upholstery prespray and in-tank solutions. Do not add it to oxidising or chlorine solutions without consulting an Actichem technician.

Safety - please read before you order
We have corrected this page. It previously described this product as non-hazardous. That was wrong, and we would rather say so plainly than change it quietly. Actichem's current safety data sheet, issued 30 September 2025, classifies it as follows.

GHS classification: Eye Irritation Category 2A, Skin Sensitisation Category 1, Flammable Liquid Category 3, STOT Respiratory Irritation Category 3, Carcinogenicity Category 1B.

Flash point above 23 °C. HAZCHEM 3Y. The concentrate contains ethanol and isopropanol, which is why it is a flammable liquid - keep it away from heat and ignition sources and keep the container closed.
Important - this grade carries a carcinogen classification. Deostor Fire - Floral is classified Carcinogenicity Category 1B, hazard statement H350 - may cause cancer, along with H335 for respiratory irritation and H317 for skin sensitisation. The Citrus grade carries none of those three. If either fragrance would suit the job, that is a real reason to choose Citrus.
Where Floral is the right call, treat it accordingly: gloves and eye protection, respiratory protection when spraying or fogging, good ventilation, no skin contact. Read the safety data sheet in full and make sure it reaches whoever is actually handling the product, not just whoever ordered it.
A note on transport. Actichem state the product is not regulated for transport of dangerous goods in pack sizes of 5 litres or less. That exemption is about how it may be shipped. It does not mean the product is non-hazardous, and it does not change how you store or handle it on site. We think that exemption is where the old wording on this page came from.

Deostor or Odourtak?
Most fire work uses both. Deostor is a concentrate you dilute into your knock-down or wash-down solution - it treats surfaces and the wash water during remediation. Odourtak is ready to use and is fogged into the space afterwards, to reach the air and the cavities the smoke got into.
Frequently asked questions
Citrus or Floral?
Match it to the fuel: Citrus for timber, paper, protein and synthetic fires; Floral for plastic and synthetic fires. On a mixed-fuel fire where either would do, note that Floral carries a carcinogen and respiratory classification and Citrus does not - see the comparison above.
How much do I use?
20-40 ml per litre of water depending on odour severity, or 40 ml per litre for initial knock-down. As an additive to a ready-to-use restoration solution, 10-30 ml per litre.
Can I fog it?
Yes - Actichem list cold and wet fogging as a suitable application for Deostor Fire, as well as pressure spraying. That is different from Deostor Spray, which must not be fogged.
Is it hazardous?
Yes. Signal word DANGER. It is a Category 3 flammable liquid, an eye irritant, a skin sensitiser, a respiratory irritant, and it carries H350 - may cause cancer. The page used to say non-hazardous; that was wrong and has been corrected. The fact that it ships unregulated in packs of 5 litres or less is a transport exemption, not a hazard rating.
Can I mix it with bleach or an oxidiser?
Not without asking Actichem first. They call this out explicitly for chlorine and oxidising solutions.
